I was listening to ESPN radio again this morning in the U Pig territory. The guys were discussing how every AD in the country should take notes of how Byrne conducted this coaching search. The called the Auburn situation a circus and then admitted that the Petrino hire a U Pig was also a circus. It was nice to hear MSU being talked about as setting the bar instead of the butt of a joke.

Byrne is just doing what every competent AD should be doing. He is not a trend setter, nor has he done anything spectacular.

Byrne forced the resignation of the first black coach in the SEC.

You may have heard that in Arkansas but that isn't the Arkansas prespective.

The Arkansas media has no perspective because they could care less about anything that doesn't involve Upig. The noon show in Little Rock, in a run down of headlines, stated we hired Florida's defensive coordinator. Then a co-host says Charlie Strong? The other host says no.....that isn't his name. It is pathetic. I wish we had ESPN radio in the Rock.

But looking back, I like it 1000% more than what happened to when Mississippi hired Orgeron. They had a cartoon process (and a cartoon coach). They publicly talked about who they were going after and then looked like idiots when they got turned down multiple times.

..I've seen at a school that was going to be sitting on pins and needles about the hire. You can't hire a coach around here without everybody speculating and nosing in. There's no way possible to keep everything completely secret but this was easily the best I've seen on that issue. Kudos on the process, for sure.

that is after we go through the whole Nutt coaches at the other Miss school.

Then the whole MSU is the worst team in the SEC. To which I respond with, "how does it feel to lose to the worst team in the SEC?"

The the conversation finally switches to Mullens is going to fail miserably in Starkville, no one can win there... yada yada.

I have talked to a few people up here that do not like the hire because they are actually worried about what he can do at MSU. They do not like the fact that State will be getting an offense. Most people up here look at it as a major upgrade and are just really not happy about it at all.

To me, it's one thing when ESPN cannot keep it straight. It is another level of dumbassedry entirely when a fans of a conference rival cannot keep the two schools straight.

I am starting to think of Arkansas fans as the adopted stepchildren who came late to the party and really just don't fit in.
