There is nothing to lose. So, there's no reason to play not to lose.

Let's regroup, take a deep breath, loosen up and go win this thing.

I hear you....

If the other guys were just better, I'd be down with what you're saying. I'm just frustrated with how we played. It's hard to get here....so when you have the opportunity, I'd think you would spend more time gameplanning on the opposing pitcher, laying off the high pitches, doing the little things, etc. We gave this one away, it feels like, and it was a golden opportunity.

the guy's ERA on the season is under 1

We arent the only ones who cant hit him. I doubt it was due to lack of game planning

Why are people disrespecting UCLA? They have an almost invincible pitching staff.

OK, first of all, I don't care what his ERA is. You have to make adjustments. We kept going after that pitch. Frazier, Renfroe, and Rea all stunk on ice at the plate last night. It's not like the guy was throwing disappearing screwballs. His fastball is nothing special; just elevated. He was pitching to contact, and we were willing accomplices. Lay off those high pitches, get him behind in the count, and square up his change-up, like Pirtle and Bradford did. Those guys made adjustments, but nobody else seemed to. He did the same thing to LSU, and you would think somebody might have looked at a tape of that game or something. This isn't rocket science.

Nobody is disrespecting UCLA. They are very good, and I've said that many times. I don't think they're as good as Virginia or Oregon State. I don't think they're better than us. We gift-wrapped three runs for them and swung at bad pitches all night. I don't think that's an inaccurate assessment.

Saying you're going to lay off a high fastball and doing it are two totally different things. Of course our guys knew what to expect...they just didnt execute when he put it high over the plate. Plus, when Plutko got ahead in the count, we were forced to swing at anything close. One or two key hits last night and we at least tie the game...probably win. I know that doesnt do any good today, but as dominating as it felt...we still had a legit chance to win late in the game.

That's my point...we had a legit chance to win and we kinda frittered it away. Plutko was ahead in the count because we were chasing early in the count and missing or fouling off high pitches. And I agree that it's easier said than done with laying off high pitches, but by your third at bat, you have to be able to make that adjustment. If our guys had just shortened up and poked those pitches the other way, it would've been a totally different outcome. We just didn't have the right approach all night.

You know that number kind of measures how good of a pitcher he is. If only we could have made adjustments like LSU and damn near everyone else in the country did this year we could have hit him like they did.

Sometimes you just run into a bad *** you can't hit. That happened last night

I agree

Hell of a job by the Dogs to get here.

We gave them a run or two last night. Yeah, we were unlucky. Three hits that I can think of.....if they are a foot here or there..we may have scored 4.

However, they have a very good team. As mentioned, they have good pitching. Also, not mentioned that I noticed last night, they are extremely quick. Which is why their defense is so good. Also why we seemingly hit it to someone every hit and those shots to the outfield didn't fall.

House money.......I want to win this MFer......but house money.

You have got to be the most negative poster I've seen here in some time....and that's saying something. Everything you posted last night was negative, today seems to follow suit. Chill out, are guys are good, we had a bad game last night. Tonight will be different.

Have

you watched them play, any, besides last night. These guys aren't lucky. They had one of the best staffs in the nation last year and returned almost everyone plus Berg. This isn't Playstation 3.

Your response to him didn't make much sense compared to what he said

It IS house money and has been for some time. The same could probably accurately be said for UCLA.

I didn't say they were lucky. I like how you toolboxes keep putting words in my mouth. I haven't disrespected their team, pitching, hitting, coaching, anything. They got to where they are for a reason. So did we. We regressed last night. Did UCLA have something to do with that? Sure. But you gotta make adjustments at this level.

Nice Playstation 3 dig. I don't play video games, but thanks anyway.

Not entirely...

An invincible pitching staff doesn't walk in a run. We can get in their head just as easily as the announcers can proclaim they get into ours.

Speaking of announcers, I'm still ticked at ESPN for not issuing an apology for the 'couldn't afford to make the trip, but came anyway' remark.

I did put "last night" in the equation. I get tired of the attitude after a loss, that we might as well pack up and go home (which is what I heard last nt). I guess we are just lucky to be here and all right??? Do they have a phenomenal pitching staff? Yes. However, they are by no means "invincible". We have seen quality starters this year from many teams, especially in the SEC. That's simply the point I'm making.

I think we show up with a better approach at the plate tonight. We were starting to figure them out toward the end, we just ran out of outs.

They took out Plutko at the perfect time. We were starting to crush his pitches, but unfortunately most of them went right at defenders so we didn't have much to show for it.

Crazy how the they beat us basically on a strikeout wild pitch, an E2, and a soft liner that dropped for a two-run single. We can't open the door for things like that tonight.

No one else in Omaha got to face them again and prove that they could beat them. We get that chance. I feel good about tonight. And even if we don't win, you can't really complain about the best finish in the history of D-1 baseball in Mississippi.
