I was thinking the same thing. It must have REALLY gone off the rails to be deleted completely

I deleted it. It was my thread anyway and because the whole damn thing was becoming political. So I ended it.

Well that sucks. I kinda thought two Tkachuck brothers, while clearly not first generation immigrants with names like Matthew & Brady, fighting over their National Anthem vs another country would be applauded by both sides of the aisle; regardless of our blowhard leader's rhetoric. But, I get it. 17ing everything turns political now.

For the record, I voted for the man. But, let's be honest he can definitely be a horse's a$$.

I just can't understand why a bunch of people would boo what will be their national anthem in two years? It's a joke. Don't delete and don't add some nonsense. Good to see the U.S. win cause Canadians are crazy about hockey
They aren't nearly as pissed at Trump as they are about that *** whipping they took last night. They mad. I used to work for a Canadian company and have several Canadian friends and their post on FB today were filled with salty tears.

I think it’s great that they booed our national anthem now we will boo theirs if play in the championship game. It’s more fun when it’s a rivalry off the ice/court/field. 17 em and I’m more likely to tune in than if it was a boring we love everyone game.

Johnny Carson (still the best late night talk show host ever) once said he once went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.
That's a Rodney Dangerfield line, but he probably said it on Carson.

I saw Dangerfield live, once. 90 minutes of the funniest one liners ever. I laughed so hard I thought I might need an ambulance because I couldn't breathe.

When we were leaving, I could barely remember a single joke. Just this one:

"My mother didn't breast feed me as a baby; she said she only liked me as a friend."

I live surrounded by Canadians and to say they are butt hurt is a huge understatement. Many are belligerent towards Americans right now.

We had a big Mardi Gras fundraiser on the island for animal rescue. One Canadian guy who offered food found out the organizer (of the event, not the charity) was from the US and backed out 2 days before.

A Canadian family came and checked into a rental unit, there was an American flag inside, they checked right back out and found somewhere else.

made this hockey victory that much better.

I had a job in the early 2000's where I traveled to Canada failry often. They're generally good people and more similar to us than they like to admit.

But every single Canadian you ever meet will do the following, and it never made much sense to me. First, they will tell you all of the ways Canada is better than the US. I'd just nod along, because ok whatever. Then in the very next breath, after telling you how much better they are, they will tell you how arrogant Americans are.

You're going to sit here and tell me how great you are, how terrible we are, and then how we're the arrogant ones. Not sure aboot that one pal. But I had at least one interaction exactly like this every time I went up there.

While I completely understand why they booed, and I am sympathetic ... I'm so glad we kicked their asѕ, and the booing makes it even sweeter.

Unlike most people on this forum, I'm always cheering 100% for any Team USA, no matter what politics are involved.

There is nothing new under the sun. I was in Montreal on business in the early 2000's and a supplier took me to see the Canadiens vs the Stars. I would estimate 75% of the crowd was booing the US national anthem. My face must have not done a good job disguising my anger. It was pretty awkward when my hosts started apologizing. They tried to put it off on a beef between the teams, but I didn't buy it. Forget Canada... and the horse their cops rode in on.

Yeah, I don't buy at all that this is because of some Trump comments. They were doing the same type of thing when I was up there frequently 20 years ago. They have an eternal little brother syndrome.

I haven’t had that experience. I’m friends with a couple Canadians. Both are quick to point out things they like much better about the US (can’t list them without this turning extremely political). I’ve always gotten along with about every natural born Canadian I’ve interacted with. But they were all from British Columbia. They spoke of the people on the eastern side of Canada the way most Americans speak about Californians. I guess it’s universal.
