Yall so quick to dismiss him. And I hope you’re right. But the fact is he had that team playing lights out in the playoffs. I was surprised and not in a good way.
I keep seeing people say this but he has the luckiest first two games. He played two teams they had already played and had a game plan for…and should have beaten GA in the regular season. And Miami played terribly and still beat them. He might prove to be okay but next year won’t be what decides it, especially if Chambliss comes back. Give it a couple years. Dude isn’t too bright

Okay best case for them is they have to release the transfers in due to tampering like they did when they did it to us. The sooner the better for them. If you'd drags out they won't be able to replace the guys they brought in and likely have to pay these guys nil promised.

This could be way worse for them when the appearance is just a slap on the wrist.

Look at how hard it's been to recruit out of this hole. If golding has a bad first year, the narrative solidifies that was Kiffens team and coaches and they are having to overpay like us for recruits. Right now they have the advantage of having to outbid 1 school (the school they are enrolled). When they have to pay fair and pay 100k just for a visit like the rest, they don't get near as many top players as they have been.

Time to open your eyes and close your ears. So many of yall believe all the crap they spew.

Oh I think it’s going to be quite evident early on that it was Kiffin that made that machine run. He got a few high profile transfers a couple years ago, but he could make Blake Shapen look good in his offense. He really found diamonds in the rough that ended up being really good…IN KIFFINS OFFENSE. I can’t wait wait to watch his return to Oxford. And if he wins???? The melt will be 100% what it was when Dan came back

Chambliss is a damn good QB. I’m not saying he won’t take a step back without Kiffin there, but let’s not fool ourselves here

Brewer, Freeze, Kiffin, Golding, and I’m sure I’m missing a few. Ya’ll should quit talking about the coach; they usually won’t hire a coach that isn’t on board with what they do. I wouldn’t have hired Freeze to collect buggies in the Walmart parking lot, yet he got an SEC job (olemiss) because he was willing to cheat at peak levels. The only one that i can think of that wasn’t on board with their cheating was Cutcliffe and they couldn’t get rid of him fast enough after Eli was gone. It is always an olemiss booster thing; the coach just won’t get in the way.

Eventually the NCAA will put its foot down so it can show it still matter or it will go away. Ole Miss has tried to step into the world of the big boys, they put thier finger into thier girlfrends pee hole, they are probably piss and they might be the ones who push the NCAA to knock them down. Even if nothing becomes of this Golding will end up being a mistake for them.

Shapen would have looked good here if he had had an offensive line.

Some of y’all aren’t very good at waging psychological warfare.

We are the worst.

Golding took Kiffin's well-oiled machine, coach the entirety of the year by Kiffin, and lost to Miami. He had a group of entirely self-motivated players and the benefit of a coaching staff who will largely be at LSU next year. He gets zero credit for that.

What we're seeing now is the reason you don't promote a guy like Golding. He obviously is battling some personal demons. He has zero self-control.

My prediction is that Golding won't be the coach in 2027. He will have that same deer in headlights look that Arnett had by November.

This tampering stuff might be the best thing to happen to Ole Miss in the long run, as they have a ready-made excuse to move on.

They only hired Golding because he was their only option. They thought they could pull another coach and they couldn't. They panicked about keeping their roster together for the playoff. So they pushed everything in on "continuity".

Pete Golding is an idiot. He'll be a short timer for sure. If Ole Miss gets hammered like they rightly deserve, it'll be the exact escape hatch Carter is going to be looking for to move on. The longer he's the coach there, the better it is for everyone else.

Nothing will happen. The NCAA has no balls now.
Something will happen here. Remains to be seen how severe. But college basketball coaches have gotten suspensions of several games for incidents similar, but not nearly as severe as this. And at some point, the NCAA is going to have to put its foot down anyway. No better time than the present.

I hope so. But nothing will come from this.
He’ll probably get a hefty fine, but that’s all. Everyone is tampering at a high level now - but if you’re an OM fan, you have to be a least a little concerned that your actual head coach was doing the tampering (if what Dabo stated is true), and that he didn’t delegate the sausage making to someone. Pretty 17'n dumb actually...

We have had a couple assistants (Knox & Arnett) step in and win bowl games. We even hired one of those that was our DC (Arnett), just like Gelding. We started the next season w/ a whole new staff, like Gelding, and we went from 9-4 to 5-6 I believe. We know how this story w/ the Univ of Northern MS will end

Yes, everyone is tampering. But not everyone is doing it with direct contact from the head coach. And other head coaches turning them into the NCAA with receipts.

And this is just what is on the surface. What if they actually start investigating and digging around the last couple of portal classes?

Ole Miss knows better than most that it's never a good thing to have the NCAA digging around in your back yard. And everyone knows, as toothless as the NCAA has been, they aren't going to put investigative resources on something this public and visible and end up doing nothing. They can't afford the credibility hit at this point.

Ole Miss is gonna get hammered.

Here's hoping that they get hammered juuuust enough to stop the nonsense, but not quite bad enough to fire Peat.

Or the death penalty, I'd be fine with that too.

I hope so, and I really thought so when they made the hire. But there's no denying he did a good job getting that team to perform in the playoffs, and kept most of his players from following Lane to LSU (I think they lost 3), and pulled in a portal class we couldn't even dream of. Much as I hate it, he's looking pretty good so far. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I usually steer away from childish nicknames but this one works on multiple levels. Afterall, UM fans are both dickheads and dickless.

I have to disagree with you here. Pete Golding really had nothing to do with their performance in the playoffs. That team was a bunch of mercenaries playing for themselves. They still had their OC in there calling plays. All Pete needed to do was not pass out drunk on the sidelines, which he obviously narrowly avoided.

It's a different animal now.

I mean, Arnett got us playing well in the Outback after Leach died, and then he didn't when it truly became his program. Because at some point you can't ride on the work of your predecessor.....you have to start doing the job yourself.

And I'll remind you of one thing....there were how many job openings in the country? And how many expressed interest in talking to Golding? That's right, zero. Even Tulane and Southern Miss, both of whom ultimately made terrible hires. Ole Miss is stuck with him and this is their escape hatch.

Golding ain't a Mensa member, but he's rat smart. And football smart. He's also a sponge and has been around some of the best if not the best in the business. He also loves players and loves what he does. And his players love him.

We can only hope he makes poor decisions with his staff and the boosters get meddlesome. He may turn out to be a bust, but I wouldn't put money on it.

Doubt OM would have beaten Miami with Lane - he'd have lost to UGA and might have phoned it in and lost the Tulane game.
