Learned something new, had no idea that was a rule. Wonder if he will feel the same way late in the 4th quarter if he needs one of those timeouts?

LSU is the home team asking to wear visiting jerseys versus the visiting team asking to wear home colors. LSU just has to ask 2 weeks in advance to do this, and the visiting team can refuse (Vandy did a few years back i believe). I'm not sure if USC has to ask or if they can just do it and subsequently lose 2 TOs.

What would a white USC helmet look like?

I threw up in my mouth a little just thinking about it.

I hate USC, but Pete is the man. Nice move.

Seriously what does it matter what jersey you wear? It'll be fun unless they lose a close game and needed that timeout late, and then ole Pete will have to answer a few questions. I generally like the guy, but I think this is just dumb and unnecesarry.

This quote made me laugh though: "It's exciting," Neuheisel said. "I think wearing the home jerseys is a great tradition." Translation: I think it's great that they are giving up two timeouts, and I hope we can capitalize on it.

The NCAA rule is that the home team can wear white if it requests the visiting team to wear non-white jerseys and the visiting team agrees. However after Vandy and I think Florida didn't agree a few years ago to let LSU wear white at home, the SEC made a rule that the visiting team has to agree to let the home team wear white if it requests to.

Being a cowbell ringing, throwing that fact in the face of the SEC kind of guy, my respect just went up a few notches for Carroll.

NCAA is a joke and their stupid former liberal College President who runs the NCAA is joke. This brings up one other thing. Why the hell do they care about our flag so much?

I for one don't care what our flag look's like. In fact I like the original magnolia flag. Miami(OH) and Buffalo did it this year... All red and all blue. I am surprised no one else has said anything so I had to chime in.

Both teams would wear home jerseys in that game for many years. Carroll's been trying to reinstate this for a couple years now. I actually like it. At the same time, Pete Carroll is basically telling Neuheisel, "sure, I'll give you two timeouts. Y'all don't scare us."

SC can beat UCLA without ever calling timeout. UCLA may not score at all and I'm certain they won't score a TD. SC is really good and UCLA is really bad.

Of course, it made a little more sense back then when they both played home games at the LA Coliseum. But if USC and UCLA both want to bring the old tradition back, why should the NCAA give a **** about it?

What I hope happens, just because I don't like Carroll or USC, is that USC loses by 3 when time runs out on them as they're trying get their FG team on the field without any time outs.

They were down to their 4th string QB last week, their OL is a sieve, and they're going against one of the best defenses you're ever gonna see. That, and USC won't be playing a QB with a broken finger on his throwing hand like they did against Stanford last year.
UCLA gave up 4 TDs ON OFFENSE last game.. 3 INTs for TD and 1 fumble that was returned for a TD.

...wearing dark. This was even the case in the Egg Bowl (with UM wearing Navy) until the 40's and 50's. I think the change was made around the country for more contrast for back-and-white newspaper pics.

Until the 1970's, Tennessee wore orange in almost every game, including annually vs. Auburn, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. I think the change happened because of a dispute involving HCBU's in the late 70's. That's about the time the new rule was adopted and affected several teams who traditionally wore white at home (LSU and Georgia Tech come to mind).

..just come out in the press with something like: "UCLA is a huge advocate for the tradition of our game with USC and want to show our commitment by pledging to play each half with the same number of timeouts this Saturday that will be afforded our rivals."
