Maybe Tennessee won't squeal too loud about it... but aren't they going to fight for UGA, BAMA, and UF?

Or is UGA not that important of a rivalry to them?

I do like this setup, though.

I think all the in-state rivalries are certain, including UT-Vandy
UT-Alabama is certain

I could see UT-Kentucky being their third.

I think Ole Miss and Kentucky are certain for us. Many forget that originally, South Carolina was our East crossover permanent, and if you actually flipped Ole Miss-USC and State-Vandy in this scenario, you'd go back to those for us and Ole Miss. But I could see Alabama or Texas A&M as our third. Don't think we will get this lucky.

I do like this setup though.

Tennessee never played either Georgia or Florida much until the sec split into divisions. Their big 3 rivals are Bama, Vandy & Kentucky.

I saw a tweet from Dave Bartoo that suggested MSU should get Ole Miss, South Carolina, & Missouri. This group would be ideal.

Ole Miss' three permanents in Bartoo's model are MSU, LSU, & UPIG.

Please God, I don't ask for much, and you've pretty much been giving me nothing but nut kicks, personally and as a sports fan, since you gave us that natty a few years ago. Let us have this one.

I feel like we’re the afterthought. They’re like “How can we make things not the worst for Vandy and UK?…. Oh let’s give them Mississippi State”

Missouri makes no sense. We’ve only played them 3-4 times since they joined. Basically other than the SEC we have no connection to them.

Neither do Oklahoma, Texas or A&M. But somebody’s got to play them.

Andy's list make sense to me.

All the old Southwest / Big 12 former teams should be playing each other for at least two of the permanents.

That's TX, A&M, OK, MO and AR.

State has two now in OM & KY. I can see it going several ways for the 3rd...

Just the opposite. LSU and Bama will treat State like the prettiest belle at the ball, jockeying for a permanent matchup with us. “Mississippi State is a cherished rivalry with a long historical tradition.”

Honestly, if I had to pick, I would say today it will be Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Kentucky. The third pick is our wild card. If Alabama has anything to say, they will make it their place to be in the spot that A&M is.

An Arkansas beat writer has another interesting idea.

four pods where all three other teams are the permanents. Auburn-Georgia is the only rivalry impacted

Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, Mizzou
State, Ole Miss, LSU, Arkansas
Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, Vanderbilt
Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, SC
