They continue to overpay and have no reason to do so.

Could've saved a ton of $ on this guy...overpaid when they pulled him from WKU, and now are doing so again - without any pressure of him leaving.

I think they are worried about Auburn, Gus on the hot seat

And know the snake they have would gladly bite them in the *** without hesitation or regret

Worth every penny. The guy has them set to win at least 9 games in his 3rd yr.

So was his predecessor Charlie Strong . With those schedules UL trots out 9 wins should almost be the norm. As long as he isn't beating Clemson, ND, and Florida St with consistently, then he isn't worth that much money.

Remember, they want to win at all cost, in that conference and their non conference schedule, 9 games a year is attainable, kind of hard to understand how they can promise that kind of money with the trouble they are in?

The taxpayers pay the rent for their arena and UL receives roughly 13% of their total revenue in subsidies

If we had a coach that could win 8-10 games each year against their competition, we would be clamoring for him to get millions more. Fact

But UL also has no qualms about paying gigantic sums to immoral coaches either, so there's that.

Strategic move. Petrino will be a candidate for q lot of tempting jobs after the Cards probably win 9-10 games this season.

Thought they had some fantastic buyout clause in the original contract? If so, this was stupid on ULs part...if I am Petrino, I am loving it...can screw those guys over as much as possible and still get overPAID.

He and his boy get to stay behind and wave bye-bye as Ramsey, Pitino and Turtle exit stage right.

That's a lot of cabbage for 9 wins a year. Personally I don't see what he's done to merit a new contract, but if it makes you and the other UL trolls happy, I guess that's what matters.

Which trouble would that be? UL's finances are in pretty good shape, and that was even before giving consideration to the additional $20 million or so the ACC has brought us.

As far as OOC scheduling, UL pays two of the tougher G5 teams in the country on the road this year. I'll let you determine the strength of the UK game.

Mentioned this on the Dan Lebatard show today and all they talked about was the picture of him with the neck brace on and skinned up face. Can't win enough games to erase that.

I hate UL as much or more then most but the guy can Win football games and he has one hell of a QB that made us look foolish last year. Wouldn't supruse me they win ACC next year as much as it pains me to say it.

They won't win the ACC this year, but their QB will make UK look foolish.

I feel it's warranted to remind you that this easy schedule thing a lot of you like to throw out ends up biting you. While not murderers row, last year Louisvilles SOS was #35. UK was #64.

I didn't bother to read your link because you sound very confused, U Lover UK but you don't sound like a typical UK fan. Besides, we already get plenty of coverage about derogatory things from all the other trolls on here.

You have no idea what you are talking about on Yum. The tax payers don't pay a dime for UL to rent Yum. UL pays a lot to rent Yum much more than UK pays at Rupp. The city does help pay off the bonds on the cities arena that they wanted to build by the river. You know the arena that UK played twice in the NCAA in and the place that lots of great concerts like 4 shows for Garth last week.

Also UL athletics does not get 13% of it budget from subsides. I am not saying they get zero but is sure is not that much. Part of it is a student fee that the students agreed to in exchange for use of the pool that athletics is paying for.

Either way it has nothing to do with coaches salaries. Much of coaches salaries like Petrino, Stoops, Cal and Pitino are all paid with the help of boosters.

You are going to make me bring facts. UL is subsidized almost 9% of its total revenue (one of the highest in the country) where UK receives less than 1% in subsidies. In other words for all of the yapping your fans do about "being the most valuable sports program" you don't rank in the top 25 in revenue and you're on welfare

Facts only

I won't argue with anything you said aside from the highly misleading/blatantly wrong statement you made about ULs subsidy being one of the highest in the country. Its actually the COMPLETE opposite. Simply follow your own link that you provided....ULs subsidy is 8.75% and that ranks 191 out of 230 schools listed. Meaning there's only 39 schools in the country that receive a smaller subsidy than Louisville. Don't care about this argument...just wanted to point that out.

I'm not sure what you linked but UK sos in 2015 was 6th louisville was 48th in 2014 uk was 5th and uofl 80th. We play 6 ranked teams on average a year no way we ever have a sos outside the top 25.
