I have never understood exactly how the world golf rankings are determined. Hwo is it that Tiger is #1 in the world without having played in a tournament all year. Steve Stricker moved to 2nd today with his win last weekend.

Rankings in tennis are based on the previous 52 weeks. I want to say golf ranking are based on the previous 2 years, but I'm pretty sure they're at least based on the previous 52 weeks like tennis is. It wouldn't make any sense to rank players any other way. Otherwise you'd get garbage results in the first few weeks of any year.
