I think the official was looking at one of the I's in Mississippi instead of the center court stripe.

so I don't know for sure. You can get called for back court if the player receiving the pass has not established position on the offensive side of the court before touching the ball, even though the ball remains completely on the offensive end. Was that the call?

That was what I thought at the time. He seemed to be crossing the line as he was catching the pass.

Bost dribbled 3 feet across our side of stripe, turned and passed to a guy who was also 3 feet on our side of the stripe. It really was as "close" as a Tyson Lee illegal forward pass.

They guy who made the call was about as far away as the free throw stripe on the other side of the court. He was definitely confused.

but I remember it being closer than that because as he was making the pass, I remember thinking it was going to be close as Riley was catching it.

but he was nowhere near "3 feet on our side of the stripe".<div>
</div><div>I think it was pretty close, and I'm also pretty sure the ref that called it was standing on the timeline, albeit on the opposite side of the court. He had a halfway decent view of it.

I am glad it didn't matter too. I had to watch it 3 times on tivo to figure out WTF the ref saw. I still don't know what he saw.

When it happened, I rewound the play after the call was made and watched it again. Riley had clearly crossed the line and had both feet established on our side. It was a blown call, but the rest of the game was officiated fairly well.

even the most inconsequential calls, in the most inconsequential games, at the most inconsequential moments can be endlessly reviewed and critiqued.
