so much is written on 6P about how sorry of a coach Stans is, more folks need to pay attention and understand sorry coaches don't win as much as he does, regardless of the Ncaa tourney. Btw, Turner may be 6'3" but his arms are at least the wing span of a 6'7" guy. He may be the most improved player at Msu in the last 10 years or so, he's a winner and a play-maker.

Oh thanks to Ben for transferring, it really has brought the best out of this team, good chemistry with good coaching. I would say Stans has done the best job for this year in the SEC, know one saw this team doing much before this season.

Lastly, to me, Downey is the best player in the SEC, he's quick, good defender, good ball-handler, shoots well and just a great team player. SC has good talent.

but right now the nod has to go to Kennedy. He lost his 2nd and 3rd best player and a critical bench player. If we lost Turner and Bost and Bailey, I don't know that we'd be 5-6 right now.

Both have gone away from the style they really like. Stans has gone up tempo while Kennedy is playing more half court and trying to win it with bigs.

him leaving may be the best thing that has happened for this team. Hope he has fun trying to crawl out from under his brothers shadow in South Bend.

However, the one thing he is great at is developing players. We've seen time and time again guys come into this program with serious weaknesses in the games only to develop into very good players by their 3rd year. Turner (and Varnado) are just the 2 latest examples.

I'll agree with this. And most of the time the biggest improvement is seen in the sophomore year. Maybe some of that has to do with Stans' my way or don't play attitude towards freshman. Personally, I'd rather see him run them till they puke, but let them play more, but he's always had a short leash for frosh. Here's hoping osby has a rhodes/varnardo like breakout after his frosh year.

I think this will happen. Osby's a very good player, but he was pretty raw coming out of HS.

Turner's play is the result of anything Stansbury is doing. He's just more savvy this year. His game is pretty much predicated on hustling, scrapping, and shooting threes. I guess some credit for that can go to Stans but I think Turner is just maturing and becoming a better player. It is his 3rd year in the program after all.

This is becasue of the coaching of Stans and his staff. Phil is the leader for this team offensively as far as organization and play running. Sometimes he calls the plays from the 2 spot and directs traffic without the ball in his hands. He fights hard down low and is one of the only players we have that actually follows their shot.

Yea a lot of his game is purely effort but his leadership and improved shooting ability are a result of good coaching.

He develops players who want to be developed. Marcus Campbell is a good example of a player who didn't give a ****, and thusly, never turned out to be worth a ****. It wasn't for a lack of Stansbury trying to develop him.

The best example I can think of of a player who came in, worked his *** off and was coached up as a result is Timmy Bowers.

This is easily the first mention I have seen that Ben leaving may have been a good thing. I liked Ben when he was here but his defense (which I know for a fact Stansbury taught him better) was lacking at best, witness Mikhail Riley from Bama in last years tornado game...
