Hahaha! I think it's going to be a great game! If I wasn't going home I would make the trip out to Dinwiddie to watch it. I think it's going to be another shootout and I'm picking Hopewell because of the Hill kid at QB. I'm very impressed with him! I know Dinwiddie is very talented and IMO is the 2nd best team in the 4a behind LT. Should be a classic!
From what I've seen in person, and from what I've heard from someone a lot better at analyzing football than I will ever be, Hill can be pressured to throw the ball up for grabs. He is a little too quick to bring it down and take off running. He often missed seeing wide open receivers.
Then he gets coached to take a little more time to let his receivers work open. So he does, feels the pressure, throws a duck up, and you know what happens then.
What Dinwiddie lacks in size, they make up for in speed. Cheatham from Hanover killed us two weeks ago because he is just a beast. More size would have been a wonderful thing, that night. Hopewell doesn't present the same run threat. They have one really big boy they used some, but mainly when they needed short yardage, or as a decoy.
Hill will get his yards, but I just don't think he can win the game by himself.
I'm very confident that we are even better since the loss to Hanover. I hated it, but it may turn out that it was a turning point. We had an open week last week. Everybody should be healed up. We have had three weeks of practice to work on what we didn't do well against Hanover. Plus two weeks to prepare for Hopewell.
The bottom line, Dinwiddie will score a lot of points. Not much question about that. And I just don't see Hopewell being able to match us score for score. And one last thing. Hopewell plays most of their best players both ways. Including Hill. He gave his all against Hanover, but was worn slam out by the end of the game. They were all worn down by the 4th period. Dinwiddie plays virtually no players both ways. Dinwiddie also has several darn good running backs that don't even get into the game until late. Fresh legs against tired defenders usually wins.
Heavy rain expected now for Friday, but it rains on both ends of the field. So we shall see.
