UCLA, NC State, or UNC? Plus, explain your reasoning.

I want UCLA because they don't have one hitter that hits over .280. Not one! And if there is one thing I learned about baseball from watching last year's team, it's that you can't score with pitching. They're teams average is .250-something I believe.

UCLA tonight. No way NC State beats NC twice in a row. Go Trojans. YET, it's never good to play a California team.

I for one wanted the corndogs but we obviously don't live in a perfect world (have a fun trip home Katz). We are still alive and that's why we are MSU and they're LS-who gives a damn.
I really want to see North Carolina because I don't want any room for doubt that we are the best team. You gotta beat the best and that #1 in front of their name gives them the title of the best team right now. If they have to play 3 more games their pitching is shot. We CAN and WOULD beat them. UCLA is streaky like we are. They get the hits when they need them. They scare me. Having said that we could play the Atlanta Braves for all I care as long as we get there because WE WILL WIN the NC! You gotta believe! HAIL STATE!

Nah, I want the easiest shot to win. How many people can tell me the last three years worth of second place teams off the top without looking it up?

UCLA after they have to play an extra game.

UCLA by a long shot. I am not even sure who I would pick second, but it would be a very distant second.

If get to play for it all then I don't care. If I had a choice I would say UNC or UCLA. UNC has been faltering as of late and I think they will be lucky to win their bracket. UCLA because I am not sure they have the offense to do much. NC State is the only one over there that really scares me. However, the fact remains we have already eliminated one national seed and beat another. We have already proven we can hang with the elite.

One important fact - we still have to get out of our regional. Still two more good teams in our bracket capable of making noise. Lets get that last win their before we start planning the ticker tape parade down Main Street.

It's not that UCLA stinks, because they don't.

I want no part of Rodon from NCSU and UNC is absolutely loaded. So the Bruins are the lesser of three evils.

However, I'm terrified of the Beavers and I think they win tonight, so that's a huge obstacle to overcome before we can even start analyzing a national title matchup.

You're right that we're still a long way from even getting into the final series. Whether we face Indiana or Oregon St.

I'd rather play Indiana, then UCLA...

I think UCLA would be a breeze for our pitching. Unfortunately, I can see UNC beating them twice, too.

The thing is if you take away our mistakes, we beat both OSU and Indiana more soundly than we did. I think we are okay, we don't lose to either one twice.

Indiana scares me a lot more than Oregon St. does. They're both outstanding teams, but there's nobody in OSU's lineup that concerns me much offensively. Most of Indiana's lineup does. And even though OSU has the better overall pitching, I think the best pitcher on either team is the lefty for Indiana that we would probably face on Friday. Either one is going to be a very tough opponent.

I'm certainly not picking either one of them to beat us twice. But I do think they're both capable of it. I expect Friday (and Saturday too if needed) to be a lot like last Saturday and Monday were. I think this CWS is one of the best in a long time. Seems like all 8 teams are pretty evenly matched. Or maybe it's just the best because it's the furthest we've advanced since 1985.

At this point, I don't think it really matters.

We play our A game, we probably beat anyone. We play our B game, flip a coin. We play our C game, we will lose to anyone.

As long as we keep putting the ball in play, I feel good about anyone we are matched up with.

Of course I do. But you can pitch around 1 guy if you need to. You can't pitch around Demuth, Swarber, Donley and Travis. Like I said, both are outstanding teams. Indiana just scares me a little bit more.

I think our bats have been hotter at this point in the season than the teams UCLA has played so far. I did not see anything special with their pitching, especially as compared to SEC pitching.

The numbers are not what are so concerning to me about UCLA, it's their strategy. 95% of college teams pitch you down in the zone... These guys pitch you up. That how they've been successful because teams aren't used to it. If they keep pitching as well as they have, any team will have a hard time scoring runs on them
