Which makes you wonder why people got so fired up about Mullen

when the vast majority of them expected the year to play out just as it did. Before the Iron Bowl, I continued to let the Auburn game sting...but after what they pulled off, it's obvious Malzahn sold his soul. So how could State compete with that??**

Hey, I picked it right too. I was thinking I had picked 7-5. Looks like I almost pulled the trigger, but not quite.

People got "fired up" about Mullen because when they saw the team on the field (despite last year`s dismal finish) they realized the team had a very good chance to be better than a .500 team despite many of the same people picking them to not do that well. Mullen fiddle farted around with his QB`s, RB`s and ST`s and generally couldn`t put an effective offense together despite having enough talent to do so. I said 5-7 but this could/should have been a 7-5 or even a possible 8-4 team. I don`t think Mullen got all out of this team it was capable of...fire away.

It was and still is more about how we played than the actual W's and L's. Most of our opponents underperformed on the day we played them. Now maybe you could say our play attributed to that, but it didn't feel that way on gameday. OSU and Auburn for example did not play like 1-loss conference champs against us. Dak not being the starter coming into the year and our idiotic two minute bend-and-then-break defensive philosophy cost us both of those games.

Oh and lest I forget our musical kickers and determination to play LDP over younger RB's who were frankly just better suited for the job.

If we had hung on and won the Auburn game...

Thinking about it makes me sick.

I think

we match up really well w Auburn, and could beat them. I don't think they just had a bad day.

Some were SPOT on...

I like this from Humps though...

"There are people saying that Auburn could be a surprise contender in the west - the same team that went winless in the SEC last year. Those people are not rational"

DS, I'm curious. When does the wife get to change out her pillow or does she

have to use it for a whole year now?

Glad I went with my heart instead of my gut. Must've been the chilli I ate the night before. Swap AU and AR and I would've nailed it.

Nice job DS. LonesomeDog and I both had 8-4 with worst case 6-6. LonesomeDog's worst case had schedule picked right and said we'll find a way to lose ark/om/aub and we did lose to Aub and found a way to win om and ark.
