The walk-on had a strong kick to win the game, and if not for a partial block, we would have seen that winner right up the middle with plenty left over. McCallum will get better and better the more chances he gets.

Hearing he may be out too.

Regardless that was a scary kick to finish that game. I like our center situation over our FG situation this season, thats pretty bad..

Seriously wtf could possibly be wrong with him that he misses this much time? I just cant believe this. I’ve never heard of a kicker receiving a long term injury. Non contact for that matter.
Not only that, but having multiple kickers get hurt during a season indicates you're doing something wrong. I wouldn't be sad to see DeWitt leave after this season. Special teams have been **** for 2 years in a row and OLB's haven't been impressive either.

Whoever coaches snapping should be first to go. How in the world can you have an offense that can’t snap the ball? This must be a first for Husker football if not college football period.

Converted RS freshman TE at center who is not playing his natural position. Plenty of people had concerns about our center situation before the season started, it’s no surprise that we’re struggling here.

Can't say I disagree. Those are the 2 coaches who have had subpar groups 2 years in a row.

And our 3 starters from last year all regressed this year. Hard to say the Oline coaching has been good or even average the last 2 years.

I love how people think McCallum is great now (or even good) since he made a game winner. He barely made it and it was a poor kick even if it was tipped. The Huskers wouldn't have even needed it had he not missed a very easy kick just a little bit earlier in the game. He is a below average kicker. It sucks too cause Nebraska is not going to blow anyone out and absolutely need someone dependable in a bad way. All the games will be close the rest of the way and this really hurts their chances in any tight game.

That was close to a 30 MPH wind , kicking from the left hash. I would have been more concerned if it wouldn't have hit the goal post. That is one of the harder kicks to hit.... pushing it to the right and wind pushing it that direction too

Exactly. That kick was low and should've been blocked.

I don’t know how it wasn’t. An angel (or a positive force) was with us on that play. No doubt about it.

Ya. I was/am as stoked as anybody that he made it, but it literally went right between two defenders' arms with inches to spare. It was one of the luckiest kicks I've ever seen, it should never have been kicked as low as it was but we got away with it.

Possibilities might include a hip flexor injury, broken bone/stress fracture, severe ankle sprain of either leg, medial collateral knee ligament sprain or tear. ANY of those can be disastrous and a long term deal for a kicker but it could be about anything from his plant leg, kicking leg to his abdominal muscles.

Yeah there was some wind but that was a 29 yard attempt... 30 yards and under has to be automatic to even be considered decent. I know the wind was wacky but he plays at Nebraska and that is the norm. He will also need to be able to do that with a crazy wind while it's freezing cold out, and maybe snowing. Don't get me wrong I want him to be good too and I'm glad they have someone back there, but this team needs Pickering to win the close games they will almost certainly be in this season from here on out.
