I just remember him saying they had to sit in the pickling solution for two weeks..store bought aren't worth a hoot, to rubbery..

Depends on the store.

Little country stores that almost don't exist anymore.

those in most cases are home made by the store and you're right, not many around anymore. Sometimes a beer joint will have some good pickled eggs but I've not seen any in a while. Deep fried deviled eggs are good if you haven't tried any..

Buy a jar of Big B pickled bologna, eat 'em all...great with crackers, btw. Boil a dozen eggs, shell'em, then put them in the jar with the leftover pickle juice.
EDIT: Leftover banana pepper/pepperoncini juice also works....
You're welcome.

Grew up eating Fischer's Pickled Baloney and pickled eggs. Love them and still occasionally eat some. I agree store bought pickled eggs aren't the best, especially the pink/red ones.

All my life I’ve eaten them. You can buy them at the store but if my Mamaw were still alive you wouldn’t waste your time. She made pickled beats and then we would put the eggs in the beat juice after we ate the beats. It was a tasty treat for anyone who appreciates a savory snack. Pickled eggs may be my favorite pickle. I love pickled bologna, corn, and even pigs feet. However my Mamaw’s pickled beat juice made some freaking awesome pickled eggs. Lord I miss that woman.

The Penrose plant burnt down and all they make now is the Tijuana Mamma. The recipe is on line and works great with eggs, sausage, bologna, lil smokies etc...

Ate my first pickled egg, because of this thread. Basically the same taste as pickled bologna.

Beer joint across Tennessee line from Tompkinsville had them and pickled bologna. Goes great with beer, bought the Sterling big mouth beer back in them days. Dumas Walker also had them. Dumas always showed us a marble trick when we were there.

Never cared much for the slaw burger. Head Hunters had a good hit with it, and most of it is true. Dumas did have a marble yard out back. Dumas was the second joint on the right going toward Celina.
