Actually, Dergo Jr.'s exploits were in 2005. The infamous "woodshed" comment occurred in 2006, when the Redskins beat the Hilltoppers for the 2nd time that year in Week #10 21-18. The Hilltoppers returned the favor in Week 2 of 2007 with a 51-15 thrashing of Morris. Those "woodshed" comments provided great motivation the following year. To this day, it was one of the dumbest post game quotes I've read from a coach.

I would say the 51-15 "thrashing" had less to do with motivation and more to do with no more Dergo for Morris.
Through the years, the list of schools that can lay claim to taking JCA out behind the woodshed is quite short. George must have just felt the urge to throw that one out there! I would say "dumbest" may be a little overstated.

John Dergo was not on the 2006 team that beat JCA twice. He graduated after the 2005 season, when Morris won the 6A title. Found a game article from their Week 10 victory in 2006. According to this article, ol George didn't mean anything by the comment. LOL

Isn't that also the year JCA had Fleener, Rudiger playing QB, and won state in 5A in 2007?
