WTF's up with that? The pollsters read way too much into a fluke win in a rivalry game to end last season. Even with that win, they were only 4-7 against I-A teams last year. You're right about Wannstadt. I've never seen such a bad coach be given so many chances with decent jobs.

Why in the hell are they ranked? Preseason polls are just put out to make it look like someone is doing something to earn a paycheck. You think if Kentucky or someone like that had the exact same wins and losses that bama had that they would be ranked? Hell they lost to ULM to end a mediocre season. MSU should be ranked ahead of them in the preseason polls using their apparent logic. Why not? MSU can claim to have a better team than Pitt can't they? MSU beat the 24th ranked team and the 10th ranked team last year.

I guess it's all perception. Hell Notre Freakin Dame got votes in the top 25 and so did Hawaii. Let's see if Hawaii gets any this week.

1. Bama actually had a winning season last year.
2. Bama did it in a much tougher conference than Pitt.
3. Bama is coached by a proven winner. Pitt by a guy who's lost everywhere he's been.
4. It's mostly very young talent, but Bama does have more talent than Pitt does.

I'm not saying Bama should be ranked, they shouldn't. But it's a lot less ridiculous to rank them than it is to rank Pitt.
