How good of a head coach do you think PJ Fleck is?

He did a great job at Western Michigan and now the Minnesota Gophers are undefeated?

What do you think about Fleck?

Fleck is a very good coach who really motivates his players. Minnesota was a so so team prior to his arrival. Now that he has a couple of years to get his system and recruited players in, he is showing up big time!

Beebe and Fleck both turned their respective programs around. Both great leaders and the pride and joy of Kaneland HS. Aurora University is 8-1.

I don't personally know PJ, but Don is someone any parents would want their son to play for.
I’ve never met PJ either, but I’ve followed his whole career including Kaneland. I’ve met Don several times and if he wants his own son to play for PJ, he’s got have some of those similar qualities

Annoying or not, he turned a mediocre program into a winner in just a few short years. How long does he stay? Have to think ND, among others, has him on their recruiting board right about now.

Met PJ at a coaches clinic when he was an Assistant Coach at NIU. He was super high energy and intensely dedicated to the sport. You could see than that he was headed for great things.

You could tell in HS. We drove from Nazareth to Kaneland to watch that dude run routes and shred defenses.

I think Fleck could take the Gophers back to the glory days if he's willing to stay. I have to think that Minnesota, with only one D1 school of note, could become quite a destination with players able to get paid for NIL...

My high school classmate's son is Beebe's QB at Aurora U, shattering records every week...I wonder if he'd like to become Illinois' passing game coordinator?

he did a nice job at western and is doing well at Minnesota. That said, he is in a tough spot with his career future. What is the actual long term, sustained ceiling at Minny? I know he thinks it is high, but is it really when talking about competing with OSU, LSU, Clemson, Michigan, etc?

on the flip side, the greener pastures of USC, ND, Florida state, etc may not actually be greener for a guy like Fleck. Kind of like Shaka smart’s rah rah nature and full court press works with VCU talent but not when trying to use the best athletes in the country at Texas. I really don’t know if a top 100 recruit is looking to “row the boat.”

I will be interested to see What he does if he stays at Minnesota for 5 plus years or if he does jump to a blue blood program.

Thanks net-se! Now if only my wife would like my opinions as much! Enthusiasm is infectious! This is especially true around people who have a goal to be the best they can be. A person who knows his business, and also has the fundamental leadership skills needed to lead an organization, can with his enthusiasm and excitement, greatly elevate its potential. PJ Fleck has both knowledge of the game and the enthusiasm (excitement) to elevate his team to a higher potential. The real question is can it be sustained over a period of time!
