Obviously we aren't going to get rid of Riley anytime soon, and we shouldn't. I'm excited to see all of his recruits come in and play in his offense. But man I love what PJ Fleck is all about. Firey guy that will make anyone want to run through a wall for their teammates. Wherever he goes he will be successful, I guarantee it. Again, I still believe Riley will be alright here, but just wondering what could have been if we hired someone like Fleck. Anyone agree? GBR always

I want to see him succeed at a Power 5 school before I consider him a great coach. I'm not sure what you mean by if we had hired someone like Fleck. Fleck himself wasn't on our or anybody else's radar two years ago because he was 9-16 in 2 years at WMU. This is the first year out of 4 there that he's really become a hot name. If by saying hiring someone like Fleck, you mean a young coach, you'd have to come up with a name because I don't know who else you are talking about.

I remember him being mentioned a few years ago when Iowa was struggling and a lot of people wanted Ferentz gone. I think he had a couple huge recruiting classes and looked to be an up and coming coach.

It's still a whole different game at the power 5 level than coaching in the MAC. Not saying Fleck will not be successful but he will have to learn how to win in the league that he goes. No one is going to just hand him success.

Look no further than Campbell at ISU who was the other hot MAC coach. He touted all these championship'esque football seasons dating back to D-III along with MAC success. He came in with this going to kick butt mojo. His first season at ISU and he's won 3 games which is similar to the guy they fired in a truly garbage Big 12. He has done some good things for them so far despite only winning 3 games but it just goes to show how you just do not walk into big boy football and take names.

Let him succeed at Purdue before taking a big time job. Maybe he's the next Meyer, but Meyer had the Utah stop before UF and after BGSU.

Utah was in the Mountain West when Meyer was there (a Mountain West that did not include Boise State yet) so Meyer's Utah is basically Flek's Western Michigan.

Fleck has a more impressive resume than Campbell. Campbell inherited a good program at Toledo and kept them steady, while Fleck has taken WMU from 1-11 to 12-0 in only 3 years. Fleck also has NFL coaching and playing experience. With that said, I think Campbell still has the mojo after beating Texas Tech by 56 points. I have been impressed with the Cyclones from what I have seen lately.

The latest rumor is that Purdue is going to hire Fleck. That would be a monster hire for that program, but I don't see why he would take that job. Purdue is like the Nebraska Basketball of College Football. It's where promising careers go to die.

Campbell is putting together a nice recruiting class. Kids we are recruiting are showing up with Cyclone offers which never happened under Rhodes. I'm talking about kids with Power 5 offers not directional U offers
