Love PJ Fleck. I'm an NIU alumnus and wish NIU would have given him a shot. Of course hindsight is 20/20. Who knew PJ would become the hottest young coach in NCAA football. Looking forward to seeing where PJ ends up. Hope he plays his cards right and finds a good BCS program and stays there for 30 years.

He was on the staff for a day..but then left for Tampa Bay.

Indiana already hired the defensive coordinator, Tom Allen and gave him a 6 year contract. I am thinking Purdue. I think Purdue is ripe for a Fleck rebuild.
He won't come to Purdue. Waiting for a bigger opportunity. I think he will be back at WMU next year. He won't get Oregon, Houston, or Baylor.

Oregon would be perfect for him. They are going to need a very good recruiter and that's going to be take someone with his charisma to get people to play there. Other option would be Kiffin but doubt he'd take that job. Other than Nike and $$ it's not as sexy a job as it once was.

I think Chryst leaves Wiscy next year (N.D.?), and Fleck takes that one. The big reach might be if Fedora leaves UNC for Baylor, and Fleck replaces him.

No way.. Wisconsin was THE destination stop for Chryst.

I like Purdue but, unfortunately I don't think its gonna happen. If he rebuilt Purdue, He would have a blank check to anywhere he wanted. I don't think the 'Row The Boat" will go over too well with the blue chippers quite yet.

You're kidding right ? Who's the best team he beat ? a 6-6 Northwestern team?
No...I'm not kidding. Name the last College at ANY level that went 13-0 other than Bama.
By the way, the streak is at 15-0
Doesn't matter anyway, Jeff Brohm just accepted the Purdue offer!!

probably 2-3 years ago. Plus WMU isn't finished yet. Beat a big team in a bowl and its a different story.

Wisconsin is going give them an introduction to a real Big 10 team. NW does not count. if WMU hangs with them then it validates the season, if they lose by 20+ its going to be "they beat no one" 4 years ago they were a 1 win team so it is a big jump up, but, its 2 different levels of play...

Good - the former quarterback school of the BIG gets a quarterback to coach. Purdue also suffers in comparison to Indiana U. in that it doesn't have as much touch in OH,PA, NJ and DcMdVa from being in the west division (he needs a good recruiter/once HC in the Chicago area to pick up the slack).

NU sure did not have the year they were hoping for in 2016, particularly coming off a 10 win 2015.
NU couldn't have started the year out worse, but they did recover to beat Iowa, Mich State, Indiana and were tied with Ohio State with 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter before losing 24-20.

Personally I am not getting all of the talk of Fleck getting a big time job. I think it is still way to early to give him the keys to a big program. I mean his numbers at WMU are not that crazy alarming good. He is 30-21 at WMU with a 1-11 and two 8-5 seasons before this year. The three records don't add up to something better then MAC in my opinion. I would like to see him have another good season or 2 at WMU and then give him the big job.

Urban Meyer and Jerry Kill both had "decent" MAC records and went on to greater success...so who's to say.

I love how the MAC is considered an also-ran conference.

Conference year in and year out produces top end NFL talent. Though not a mid-major still a damn good conference. That league likely produces a top 15 pick in this years draft.

I am just not sure how his antics would work with big time D1 players. He does a great job getting mid-major players to play with a chip but will that work with the "studs"?

I think Corey Davis is a little more than a mid-major player

It would have worked at Oregon as he could have jumped on sleeper picks early and often. What he has going for him is that he recruit football players and not chart type players. Football players will always be successful.

I worked at NIU, I am completely aware of the conference, but it is still not the same as the power 5's. Yes, they get good athletes all the time but overall talent is just not the same.
