After our second drive Saturday, he was screaming at someone on the sideline. Not sure who, but it went on for a couple of minutes.

I think the horrid look on this is one is Vann, not sure if Rush made comments or not. I may agree with him and what he said may be true, but it is completely irresponsible and in no way helps the team for a player to disrespect the coach in public. Hopefully Beamer and Satterfield address the problem. It should never happen, but these days it is often more about the player's ego than the team. Sad.

Sometimes bad coaching, leads to lack of player support. What more does our oc need to do to prove he is not the answer. He should not have been hired , should have been fired last year, and now the horror story continues. We are wasting a lot of talent and all the excuses from last year are gone, but new ones come up every week !

I’m certainly no Satterfield supporter, but Vann chose to return this year knowing who was in charge. Beamer’s inexperience is showing. Choosing his friend and then letting it fester won’t end well. His apology tour this week won’t end well either.

Beamer had better reign that stuff in quickly. Once the finger pointing starts, things can go out of control in a hurry. Vann may be a good player but he isn't a game changer and isn't bigger than the team.

The bigger question is why can't the players remember a play?

Beamer needs to deal with Vann. You can't have this kind of stuff going on. It makes it look like Beamer is losing his grip on the team.

At the same time, while Beamer needs to deal with Vann, he needs to address the offensive issues with Satterfield behind closed doors. Whatever the case may be, if the players have lost confidence in what the coaches are doing, you can't keep doing the same thing.

Absolutely undermines the head coach and makes you wonder what's really going on? They certainly didn't look like they wanted to be on the field Saturday. Is he losing his grip on the team? Have the players lost respect for the coaches? It's never a good sign when a player feels like it's ok to go about this like this in such a public manner. Sparky Woods 2.0?

Vann would either be gone or have his *** on the bench for most of the season if this happened at Alabama.

Beamer needs to be a SOB in this instance.

With more and more "media" outlets (it's really just any outlet - most seem to be self-identifying as media) - media training of the players should probably get a little more of the time in the offseason.

Every schmo has a podcast these days, or webcast, or blog, etc - and every player would love to be interviewed. It's a bad combination. You've got to train these kids on how to control the narrative.

And then after media training you show them the Godfather so they learn: you never go against the family! You have something to say, keep it in the family.

I agree...BUT...this would never happen at Bama. Never.

I don't know if I'd say it shows Beamer is losing a grip on the team. There are just so many outlets for players these days. As dumb as it seems to us, Vann probably did it without thinking about it. But, Beamer needs to be, as you say, an SOB. Bench him for all/part of the Charlotte game.

Players today can say anything they want now since the portal allows them to leave at anytime. If there's not some changes made don't be surprised to see many leave.

Disagree. It can and will happen at Bama with a disgruntled player who is on his way out the door. It's a lot less likely there because of the consequences. Vann needs to sit more than the Charlotte game. I would sit him the next three at a minimum. Beamer has hinted that he doesn't give 100% effort in practice. He needs some time off to decide if he wants to be a part of this team. His NFL ship is quickly sinking.

Some things are best not said even if there is truth being expressed. This makes you question if Vann's thoughts are just him or is there
discord brewing with any other players. We all know the players are frustrated, maybe embarrassed, after a couple of *** whoopin's.

Eh, a player voicing complaints on the way out the door is not comparable to this.

I think the main thing this does is show fans that players feel the same way about the play calling. Whether that's accurate or not, that's the look it gives. Whether or not it's true, you want the coaches to say "We have to coach better and the players need to execute better" and you want the players to say "We just have to execute better." That's what you say publicly, even if you think the play calling is garbage. Vann's comments will only fuel the fire for fans that our play calling is off.

As far as how Vann's comments, it's the coaches jobs to put players in the best position to succeed. Whether Vann is right or not, he obviously feels that play call in that game situation, was not setting the players up for success. Vann could just be out of his mind. We'll obviously never know if Vann was just shooting from the hip with these comments or expressing a sentiment held by much of the team.

This could just be a big giant nothing from a player who was maybe speaking out of frustration b/c he hasn't performed as well this season, or it could be a reflection of the overall team sentiment.

That's Beamer's job to figure out and address.

The bad news: this story is being picked up by other outlets. Shane needs to squash this in a hurry. I know he's a player's coach, but you gotta kill this.

Not sure how he runs damage control on this. The cat's out of the bag and perception is reality. If our offense had been performing well, these remarks probably wouldn't have even been noticed by anyone. But, given the offensive struggles, especially now that we have Rattler, this just only affirms in peoples minds what they're already thinking (whether it's true or not). The best thing he can hope for is that we perform well offensively against UK in a few weeks. That will silence a lot of this. But that's 3 weeks away.

Again, disagree. Sounds like Vann's practice habits and antics are signs of a man trying to get out the door. He obviously is not happy here.

He hasn't had the ball thrown to him this year...
The minute he can get 2 inches of separation from a defender, maybe he will. He stood out amongst a group of average receivers last year. He kind of appears to be playing at a speed to not get injured and protect some perceived future NFL contract. He like everyone else needs to pick it up.

He believed his own hype. I hope he realizes last year only showed he has some capability. The preseason hype has him believing he should be the focal point of our offense. The fact he is not getting targeted means he’s not getting open very often. That’s on him. It’s not the coaches job to get him an NFL contract. It’s his. Coaches want to win so I’m sure if he was all world beating his man every play and blocking like a banshee, he would be getting touches

A Big crossroad for Beamer. This could go either way. Beamer takes control or totally loses control of the team.

Yeah, this could either fizzle out or flare up. If Vann can come up with some way to spin it and that he has confidence in the staff, this could fizzle out. But, as noted above, it's already been picked up by a few different outlets, so the potential is there for this to flare up.

How's that "players coach" thing working out for you so far Shane? SMH

Shane goes out of his way to avoid saying any particular player didn't perform well, so to have a player said coaches made mistakes really sticks out.

Well, Vann apologized to Satterfield and retracted his comment via Twitter. Said it was his job to know the play and trust the training. Satterfield said he probably shouldn’t have called a play the hadn’t practiced in 3 weeks. Maybe that’ll be the end of it.

The end of it should be where Vann is sitting the next three weeks

Last year is over son, show us what you've got this year. Great players can repeat.
