Playing D against UM I'd pound Wallace every time they ran the zone read

Hell, he doesn't like getting hit. He slides when a corner runs up to him.

Free hit on a QB that doesn't like the contact.

I'm sure Vandy would have done the same...

...if there wasn't a Mack truck sized lane there to make his decision easy.

I don't think Wallace does not like to get hit. I think Ole Miss coaches have told him to get down because they would be in HUGE trouble if he gets injured.

He does seem to be pretty shifty with the read option. I think defenses look at him, and he looks totally unathletic running the ball. I think they lose all discipline and start taking the running backs leaving Wallace some mighty easy routes for some yards. Even slow lumbering guys can make yards if they are completely uncovered.

He hit Vandy defenders with passes several times tonight. It is absolutely amazing none were intercepted. He had about 15 incompletions and 5 or so of those hit a Vandy guy in the back, knee or hands. The drive before Vandy scored at the end, a Vandy defender had two hands on a pass lofted into the middle.

There is no doubt he's been told to get down and not take hits. If he gets hurt, their season is in the *******.

No offense, but I hate when people say that. Who in the hell enjoys getting hit???

Plus, Wallace has been told to slide. He is physical and tough, but there is no reason to take unnecessary hits.

In the NFL you are starting to see the backside DE disregard the running back entirely and hit the QB regardless of who has the ball. Just take him out of the equation on every read option. The other 10 guys have the responsibility to stop the runner.

I don't think he minds getting hit but that play is a huge part of their offense. Every play I would have someone nail him....force him to hand it off. It is hard to understand why Vandy or any other D would not key on him.
