Playoffs week 2- Who get's exposed?

Board seems dead, so what higher seed goes down week 2?

My thoughts,
8A
Oswego, great season, bad playoff draw.... Loyola is mad as hell and aren't going out in round two. They are healthy and playing good football. Their annual Maine South playoff game set up to be next week...

7A,
I am torn between Glenbard East/ESL or Hononegah/WWS so I will go for both. Hononegah goes down to WWS and the Beast continues to set up rematch with Mt Carmel.

6A,
Battle of two state Champions from last year. I believe PR shows Phillips they should have stuck with 5A. This will set up Cary's redemption to return the favor of last year.

5A,
JCA/Marion. Hilltoppers continue. Has a #1 seed ever lost in round 1 to a 16 like Chicago Payton to Evergreen Park? The CPL should be banned from having #1 seeds.....

8a: Loyola isn't as good as they have been in years past so I think they get knocked out this week.
7a: ESL rolls to the championship
6a: PR wins a close one.
5a: JCA rolls past Marion. Close to a running clock but not quite.
Someone said in another post that last year or the year before (1)Crete-Monee got knocked out by (16)Hinsdale South. Not sure if that's accurate or not but it seems it has happened before, just not that often. Probably like a 16 seed beating a 1 seed in the NCAA March Madness Tourney.

The seeding in 5A is what it is. To be honest there are probably 4-6 teams that have a legit shot at winning.

I wouldent call JCA an underdog or upset, unless your basing it soley on seeds

Maybe Richards? They have not played a team with better than a .500 record since 9/21.

Got a few thoughts on that. I'll be in Columbus with my boys for OSU/Nebraska and might make it back for Marist/NC (doubt it):

I certainly hope I am wrong as my oldest is a St. Francis grad but I think Boylan puts a hurtin' on them.
Phillips will run into a system of well coached and disciplined kids. They go down.
The Red Devils of Hinsdale Central better bring their A game to Gurnee. Am I right, @LakeCtyNewt?
I think the methodical beatdown that Marist utilizes like a reticulated python on a helpless mouse will be the end of Central.
Montini....watch out! Same with Swagger High (although Sycamore poses much more of an offensive threat than the 204 Warriors).

I didn't like the way unbeaten Rolling Meadows struggled with 5-4 Alton, so I will pick them to lose against St. Charles North. Unfortunately Glenbard East doesn't stand a chance against East St. Louis. Similarly, Edwardsville should handle West Aurora. I think Wheaton-Warrenville South gets past Hononegah. And lastly, for my big upset pick, I'll take Barrington as the winner over Homewood-Flossmoor.

I don’t think losing to ESL is getting exposed. It is called getting a terrible draw. ESL lost 2 games to out of state powerhouses. If Glenbard East lost to a regular team seeded 8 to 32 then yes that would be getting exposed.

LWE should be outlawed! Lot of weird stuff as to who plays at east and who plays at Central/West. Beating HF as they did...they could give Illinois a good game! AND... East will have a great hoops team also! Should be looked into?!

1a - (10) Dakota beats (2) Ottawa Marquette -Dakota's tougher schedule will push them to victory.
1a- (6) Forreston over (3) Milledgeville- Undefeated Milledgeville's soft schedule comes back to haunt them.
3a- (6) Williamsvile over (3) Fairfield - The undefeated mules almost got knocked out by a very average Newton team last week. This game won't be that close.
4a- (10) Effingham over (2) Paris - Effingham playing majority bigger 4a-5a schools compared to Paris schedule almost all 1a-3a schools will be the difference.
7a- (14) Wheaton Warrenville South over (3) Rockton Hononegah - The closed NIC-10 Already lost 3 teams last week and may lose one or both of the last two this weekend.

Simeon will probably win, but think they may get exposed and truly tested when facing a tough LWW team.

I was on the fence adding Hillcrest but Highland I’m not sold on, I say once they meet any of the 4 teams above it will be a blow out, they haven’t played anyone all year

I would disagree. Highland played and beat 4 playoff teams this year. Beating 7A qualifier Alton 21-0. And beating three 5A qualifiers by 35+. Highland will not be blown out by anyone.

While you are correct, other than Marion, all the playoff teams Highland played lost in round one. The lone winner was Marion, who beat a very average Rich East. The good thing is, we will find out in the next two weeks who Highland really is.

Yes, unfortunately highland can only play who is on the schedule. They tried beefing it up with a couple SWC schools. Alton did play Rolling Meadows to a two point game and could have won that game.

I'm confused by the almost unanimous belief of an OPRF win. I've watched OPRF and no doubt they are a great team so I agree it has the makings for a good game. However, I find in interesting that a Brother Rice team that has been top 5 all year, the 1 seed in 8A, undefeated and outscored its opponents 341-52 in 10 games is getting so little love.

Only western burbs folks are taking this pick (granted there is a decent amount of us on here). But I don’t think I’ve seen any CCL guy or guys from up north or further south taking OP in this one. I think most ppl think BR will take care of business.

Your a bit foolish with your comments. You must know nothing about the schools or area. Let them look into whatever they want.

I wouldn’t consider Alton nor Belleville East “beefing up” their schedules. Neither of those schools have had a good football program in years. We want Highland I’m the SWC. It’s way overdue. Their conference success warrants a change. You want to be the best, you have to play the best. 9-0 regular season means nothing without a state championship. Highland needs to get over the hump. I’m pulling for them.

What is this guy talking about. LWE has unbelievable talent and one of the best coaches in the state. Whoa!
