I think PM wins by 2 or more scores. I think PM beats everyone in A except Altavista. I have not seen W&L play. I have seen PM play only once so my opinion is just that. I thought PM played Essex tough last year and I think they are much better this year, and from reading posts and scores on here, I feel that Essex is not as strong as last year. Essex rolled W&L something like 28-7 this year so basically that's why I feel PM wins. I could be wrong. PM's opponents may have just been really weak this year and that is why they seem better than last year. Greenbrier East, Auburn, and Covington were the only teams that tested PM this year. Auburn got blasted by Glenvar, Giles, and Radford which were the top teams they played. Covington gave Riverheads a run but got wacked by Glenvar. PM is loaded with seniors so I think that helps. W&L may be also, I just don't know. I do not know Todd Jones but, I know some people who do and they think he is great. I know who Mike Craft is but that's about it. I think he has been great for that program. If PM does win and they do get to play AltaVista, I hope they can keep it close. I really feel they are the only team in A to have a chance to keep it close because of their ball control offense. I don't know what was said about PM wanting some of AltaVista but I doubt that is true. I witnessed most of those games PM had against AltaVista and since Schnaras (spelling) has been there, they were ugly. They may have said "the road to the championship goes through AltaVista and we want to go there" but I can't imagine anyone that saw what AltaVista did to PM those last few games would try to stir the pot. AltaVista would have a good chance to advance a couple of rounds in AAA this year so they are a different animal from everyone else in A. PM will move to 12-0 with a win over W&L. Altavista may win it all but I wouldn't start celebrating just yet...
I've already discussed the great upcoming PM at W&L game, but thought I'd talk some more about the greatness of Altavista. And yes, everyone is focused on the upcoming battles as they should be, but had to respond.

Many folks have said that AltaVista is just too powerful this year and should be an easy slam dunk to win it all (we Essex fans have felt that excitement before too, so it's all good). This is coming from many folks out on that side of this great state. As I've said, they may well indeed win it all again.
They deserve to be # 1 sure. They may whip PM or W&L etc. as some predict.
Yes, they are great. Yes, they are 11-0. However, only two of their wins came against teams that finished the season with a winning record. So I'm not willing to give up just yet. One of those big wins came against Dan River, who just got slaughtered by Buckingham, a strong team, but one Essex would defeat 75% of the time (just my opinion).
As for the comments that adding PM's Dawson to your team would just cause problems for AltaVista considering they are so strong already, well, I understand that thought process, but we would LOVE to have that problem!
As for the hitting hard, yes, AltaVista came out hard from the gate in last year's title game with some hard hitting to set the tone early in the cold (no surprise this time). I'll give you that. We lost a few kids to injury. However, if them boys that can hit harder than Essex's Hammond, Martin, Gaskins, and Lucas, than all the other teams are, indeed, in serious trouble. Long ways to go, just yet.
Good luck to all the teams remaining. Should be some great ones and a fun weekend of football.

If I was one of those teams and was blessed enough to have him, I'd even considering putting him out in the slot full time. He can catch and block.. Get the ball out to him in space like that...man, oh man.

I also hate to overlook teams as well but, but I doubt this game will be any close at half. I am watching Altavista closely though. I don't think it will be this game but I predict somewhere in the next 2 playoff rounds Altavista is going to get a shock. I'm not saying they will get beat necessarily but, I think they are going to stumbleupon something that is going to hit them hard. I think Altavista take s this game big. The east brackets are set and were set going in, like March Madness brackets. If a 16 had beat a 1 they would have played the winner of 8/9, not the 2.
I don't know if the west is reseeding each week but winner of Altavista/Central will play the winner of W&L/PM.

Why are you so worried about what I post. To be honest about it, I can't even complain about the play calling any more. He called a good game the last 2 weeks and I expect another one this week. Yes even the lost against Colonial Beach. Almost everyone is counting W&L out right now. That will be everybody's downfall when they play us. Theres no way PM beat us tomorrow. W&L 34 PM 21. The key to this game is weather W&L can stop PM's running game. If they can't, game over. If they can, and have a lot of snaps then PM will be in trouble with their athletes getting in space and out running them. I see some of the same trouble at PM that i see at auburn. being a small school they usually don't have the skill players in the secondary so it is very important to have long drives and keep the ball away from W&L. I'll go with PM 27-21.
I do not know if any team can stop PM running game, but W&L will dramatically slow down Dawson and company. Early in the week I was thinking PM would win for sure, but the more I think about it, I am leaning more towards W&L. Either way, no one watching this game should be disappointed.
I think that is the key for both teams mmqp. Both teams are run heavy. W&L wants to run around you, PM wants to run through you. But whatever team can take the top off the defense a couple times with the pass will win tonight. Good luck and safe travels!
