(April 19, 2022) – The West Virginia University baseball team takes on rival Pitt on Wednesday, April 20, at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.</p><p></p><p>First pitch at the home of MLB’s Pittsburgh Pirates is set for 1 p.m. ET. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 19, but was pushed back due to inclement weather.</p><p></p><p>Fans can follow all the action with live stats, found on WVUsports.com. Additionally, Wednesday’s game against the Panthers will air live on ACC Network Extra and can be heard on the Mountaineer Sports Network on 100.9 WZST-FM, as well as various affiliates throughout the state, the WVU Gameday App and WVUsports.com.</p><p></p><p>Tickets to the matchup are still available at Pirates.com/CollegeBaseball.</p><p></p><p>WVU (22-12, 6-3 Big 12) is 110-93 all-time against Pitt. Of note, the Panthers are West Virginia’s most-played opponent in program history.</p><p></p><p>The two schools have already met once this season. UP took down the Mountaineers, 9-6, on March 30, at Cost Field in Pittsburgh.</p><p></p><p>Wednesday’s game marks the fourth time WVU will play at PNC Park since 2017. The squad is 3-0 at the big-league venue.</p><p></p><p>Last time out, the Mountaineers dropped a series against then-No. 3 Oklahoma State from April 15-17, at Wagener Field at Monongalia County Ballpark in Morgantown. WVU fell in the series opener, 2-1, bounced back for a 5-2 victory in the middle game and lost, 13-3, in the series finale.</p><p></p><p>Sophomore infielder Nathan Blasick hit a pair of home runs against the Cowboys, while sophomore catcher McGwire Holbrook had four RBI in April 16’s win. Additionally, sophomore left-handed pitcher Ben Hampton recorded his Big 12-leading sixth victory in the middle game.</p><p></p><p>The Mountaineers have stolen 115 bases this season, the most in single-season program history. The squad entered the week ranked No. 2 nationally in the category.</p><p></p><p>Individually, junior outfielder Victor Scott II has a team-leading 30 stolen bases, which sits at No. 1 in WVU’s single-season record book. The Powder Springs, Georgia, native also is No. 2 in the nation in the category.</p><p></p><p>West Virginia received votes in multiple polls this week. The club also checked in at No. 28 in the latest College Baseball Newspaper’s top-30 poll.</p><p></p><p>Now in his 10th season at the helm, WVU coach Randy Mazey has posted a 285-220 record with the Mountaineers. West Virginia is 11-5 against Pitt in the Mazey era.</p><p></p><p>Pitt is led by fourth-year coach Mike Bell, who has the Panthers out to a 21-13 record this spring.
