If it is a forfeit then it is just like Galax had won the game, so 16 total points (which would lower Galax Rating)

If its a no contest, then it is like the game was never scheduled, so Galax total points would be divided by 9 instead of 10

You are correct sir. Unless VHSL changes policy the school gets to choose. The only down side of Galax and GW taking a no contest is it robs the teams that have beat them of rider points. In this case it would really hurt Graham ad they beat both Galax and GW.

I could be wrong but I believe it counts as a game and would carry the appropriate points associated. In this case 16 points for being Class 1 and no rider points as they had no wins. It sucks and would be better for Galax if that was dropped and they just divided by one less game. Conversely, Graham wants the game to be listed as a win for Galax so they get 2 additional rider points from their victory over Galax. It’s a crappy situation either way it goes to be honest.

I emailed the VHSL for clarification and they responded quickly and said the teams that Auburn cancelled on have 3 options, you can take the forfeit and receive rating points accordingly, you can replace the game with another opponent or declare no contest and divide rating points by number of games played which in Galax case would be divided by 9 instead of 10. Galax has chosen the no contest and will divide the points by 9.
