Is the ultimate outcome the loss of 500k jobs? That's the part im focusing on.
The details between ai and robotics (i saw this one was robotics) are irrelevant because its all derived from the same source and have the same result.
I am a free market person, but when the largest company in the world cuts 75% of its workforce that is a massive cost savings at the expense of several jobs.
This is just one. Every company out there all has this stuff in their development roadmaps. Im sure that's where this was leaked for Amazon.
Our society can neither fiscally nor emotionally handle half the country not having gainful employment.
Just to play devils advocate. You’re currently saying Amazon will cut 500k jobs and that’s very bad (I agree). But what were people saying ten years ago when Amazon was just coming up? They said Amazon and online shopping would destroy the job market by putting all these brick and mortar stores out of business! But what happened? People got hired to run the online businesses and then work for Amazon as it got bigger. So now I ask, why can’t the people that are being fired from Amazon not work at these new AI and robotics companies that are now coming up, creating a new industry. Why do you think I might think this? Because this is what has happened in every single industry since the dawn of civilization.
