You really have to downplay the Saudi initiatives to influence both our government and our public to accentuate Israel’s influences. Egypt, likewise, has been caught in corruption to influence. One distinction is that Israel can boldly stand out in many of its efforts, because its status among Muslim neighbors ain’t getting better. That boldness is also an asset to the US in the region. While Saudi and Egypt must dance a different dance. If that region is of little import to the US, then shut the door. I think that would be a grave mistake. And, I think Israel knows that.
