I make all the paper shades for Lehman's (who bought Aladdin Lamp several years ago). The shades are made from dulcote. Normal shades are made from styrene, but the heat from a kerosene lamp will melt plastic, so we use dulkote. I buy it in bulk. Four years ago, I paid 1.75 a yard. There is only 1 USA supplier left. Today he quoted me 12.15 a yard. I can buy it from China for 3 for plain shades, but we need one side dull to print on. Since they are the only domestic supplier left, they are trying to gouge people.
@berniecarbo Can you apply any kind of chemical surfactant to the side your printing, like a TSP, to get the surface to accept printing? It might not take but a light spray of it across the surface. That would be a pita to apply and wipe off, I know, but at that price.... dang.
