The only proper resolution to the student loan "crisis" is to cancel the program and for all those who owe debt to pay their debt. Anything else is wrong and unacceptable. Brainwashing kids that they must get a college degree needs to end.
This has to be an act. No one can be this dumb. It's simply not possible.
I want to watch this movie in the theater with @Classy_Bowls to see if he ever stops laughing during the whole thing haha. Just 2 hours of Classy laughing so hard he is crying.

It's very easy to understand. That's exactly how the Beer Hall Putsch and fascism worked then too. It's how it always works. Capitalism leads to vast economic inequality. Economic inequality causes societal unrest. When things start obviously declining from how people used to have it, they lose faith in the systems and institutions that are no longer working for them. They yearn for change, and charismatic people can channel that legitimate rage onto easy scapegoats. Solving real problems is difficult and complicated, much easier to just lay them all at the feet of one targeted community. Jews or immigrants or whatever 'other'. Hitler was installed in power after he had been jailed and released for said Beer Hall Putsch. Exactly like the people electing Trump after Jan 6th.
Trump has never been the problem. He's a symptom, not the disease. He's just a reflection of his voters. Them and their unAmerican American exceptionalism are the problem. Just like the German people and their same superiority complex. Same ideology and rot, different era.
Without student loans, you remove the best vehicle for upward financial mobility. Without them, only the elite would ever get educated, as before.
Just remove their bankruptcy protection. That will necessitate underwriting like any other loan. Problem fixed.
Higher education was substantially less expensive previous to the student loan program. The guaranteed government money has allowed costs to spiral wildly out of control with no real justification. For those who were dead set on getting that education it was possible even it meant working your way through school. The low payback rates have been an unmitigated disaster. Expecting the taxpayers to now foot the bill is downright criminal. The value for the public and most of the students themselves of this education is questionable at best. I would contend that no more than 25-30% of students should waste their time and money on college.
For the record I did go to college and paid my own way as I went when it was much cheaper. I believe trade school (or on the job training) would be much more beneficial for the majority of people. Many degrees are useless and even if you are focused on a valuable field you have to spend time and money on useless courses along the way. Colleges have become indoctrination centers to a large extent.
