I laugh at this, but I am really worried about this kind of attitude becoming the norm as more and more corruption is uncovered. People will lose what little trust they have left and will start to just say screw it. Everyone else is stealing, why shouldn't I, or what's the point since I can't get ahead because of all the corruption.

You're right, the rich know better than anyone how to use the system they designed. Which is why we have to change the system to favor the people.
See this is where you always hit the breakdown. Government is already huge and powerful. Under your preferred capitalism. And its power is captured by those same capitalists. Used against the people. The only alternative is to recapture the government with the people and turn its power against those capitalists. There is no option for small government live-and-let-live libertarianism when every inch of the globe has been explored and filled with over 8 billion people. There is no more frontier to expand into. Theoretically space (hence Musk et al.'s interest), but that's not going to be any time in the near future. We're all stuck here together for the foreseeable future and have to manage our environment intentionally. Democratic socialism is the answer because it's brutally necessary, not because it's "altruistic". Nothing is altruistic. It's in all of our own enlightened self-interest.
There is only big government. The elites control it now. Do you want that to continue or do you want it controlled by the people? As the Founders intended our democratic republic to be? Those are the only options. The Founders understood this, which is exactly why they created our system of checks and balances. Our current top-heavy system is in need of balance. We are the check.

Why? Bernie Sanders has been consistent in his championing of the working class his entire career. He has not enriched himself on the public dime. He has a middleclass life built on his direct earnings. He has never sold out the people, his constituents, to the donors. Like almost every other politician in DC. He's regular person just like anyone else and has his flaws. But can you name a single other senator with more integrity? What about that disgusts you so that you're willing to side with the donor class?
Ok, there's one example of what I'm talking about. His being genuine. So what is the problem? I agree with his border take here too. As I've said here many times. You'll definitely disagree with us on other things about how to accomplish that, but we all would love legality at the border instead of lawlessness.
How is honest discussion not better than all the lying you get from both establishments? Democratic and Republican? We need to start banding together against the elites, even if we disagree on policy. There's more of us than of them.
