This is why sports fans in the social media era are constantly disappointed and miserable.

Paul George is arguably one of the five best players in the NBA. Cam Reddish has arguably the fifth most upside of players in the ACC this past season.

People put ultra-lofty and often unrealistic expectations on players then turn on them when they don't live up to something they had nothing to do with in the first place.

Saying someones game reminds you of another player is not the same thing as putting lofty expectations on them. Literally no one is saying Cam Reddish is going to be as good as Paul George. You can still say they have similar skill sets and measurables

You absolutely can. Having said that, many and i mean many, are guilty of exactly what he is talking about and have been all season.

The problem is people see comparisons in someones game and assume that means theyre supposed to be as good as them. The person who gets the most unfair treatment right now is Brandon Ingram. Since he’s somewhat built like Kevin Durant people think he should be effortlessly scoring 25 a game. Brandon Ingram averaged 18 a game on 50% shooting this year despite being at best his team’s 3rd option. He’s a pretty damn good pro. But the problem is since he doesnt put up Kevin Durant numbers people act like he’s a bust. Which is dumb

Correct and that was precisely Jtre’s point. It’s also insanely unfair to the kids when fans bash their own because of inflated expectations on where someone’s draft projections are.
