I'm saying it is when he let Kodi pass after the flagrant insubordination in front of the press a year or two ago. He should have kicked him off the team. You just can't have that kind of behavior and tolerating it only poisons the lockerroom. <div>

I'll say when he completely turned the team over to Jamont and allowed that be our entire offense. That mindset spread to the younger guys who wanted the same thing but not nearly the talent to back it up. Those young guys are now the veterans on this team. It shows in their attitude and performance.

he lost it....but I know his *** wouldn't still be here without the transfers of Lawrence Roberts and Shane Power. He was a bit on the ropes and those guys fell in his lap and helped tobuy him a few years when added to the few players he had on hand.

I've said it many times and will say it again, in the end, Stans downfall will be his unwillingness, stubborness, inability or whatever it is to hire and utilize a decent staff. His assistants are the most useless in all of sports. And that's a dangerous thing when you yourself have no 17-ing clue.

these headcases.

The fact of the matter is during Stans high water mark, we had great players that were willing to rebound and play defense and could score.

...when he's been successful, he has had extremely strong leadership on his team. In his first years, he couldn't handle Tang Hamilton. He was fortunate to get a run of players like Zimmerman, Austin, Bowers, Roberts, Frazier, Power, and most recently Jarvis and Barry. Now we don't have any of that, and we are terrible.

He's never had control of the basketball program. Period.

In other words, the summer after Roberts left and before Jamont started.

He has still had plenty of success from Jamont to the present when it comes to signing talented prep players, conference success, etc...but he lost the program at that point and has never regained it.

He handed the reigns over to Jamont as a freshman and due to having no better option than Jamall Edmondson to replace him, Jamont got to do whatever he wanted without consequence. The **** was out of control. Rhodes was a little ***** at that point, Sharpe and Houston were little bitches too, and we were basically just a total mess due to lack of leadership.
It hasnt improved.
Stewart and Jarvis seem to have been positive leaders, but they took back seats to the floor leadership of Jamont and Bost. Bost is Jamont v2.0 in that he has a ton of talent and can make great decisions when he wants, but he is usually more interested in making awful decisions like running down court and launching a 3 from 5' beyond the arc with more than 30seconds left on the shot clock.

Without Bost's terrible leadership right now we have Ravern and Augustus to lead us...holy ****. But now a guy that has been out of shape for the last 4 years and who has constantly been knocked for not playing with passion is joining the mix, that should really fix our problem!

When Charles Rhodes and Walter Sharpe were freshmen. That team was set to do great things that year. Those 2 killed the chemistry on that team. Walter was kicked off the team, but there was a time in the season when Charles was considered the bad influence.

I was pissed at Charles about that until his sr season, especially for breaking Robert's nose. LR was not the same after that. Walter was the start of many transfers. Also, wasn't that the season Gary Ervin's attitude became an issuue?

It is interesting that there are so manypalm to foreheadmoments relived in this thread. I had forgotten some of these.

Somewhere Dawgbreeze is angry that the interwebs exists and discussions like thisare taking place in a somewhat public forum.

To further suggest a solution: Isn't it still possible that Coach Stansbury could simply hire an asskicker assistant coach to run practice, make in-game decisions and crack heads? That is still an option......isn't it?

It is too late to hire an assistant coach like that. He had the opportunity to do that this year when Kirby left and look at what he did.<div>

I think the whole mess with Kodi is a great example. Team leadership has gone to ****. This season was 17ed before it started. When you have to rely on leadership from Kodi and Ravern then you are 17ed.

Stans should have kicked Kodi's *** to the curb. I guess he was thinking Elgin and Riley would bring the senior leadership this years team needed, but they suck. The talented guys he has right now are huge vags. When he was losing in the NCAA's he at least had some decent upperclassmen, talent and brains. Those times aren't here now.

Since the departure of Bowers, Zimmerman and Roberts, this program has just been a revolving door of players. The only consistence in the program since was JV.

With players like Bowers, Roberts, Powers, Varnado, Stewart you had solid people in the vital roles of the team. As someone else posted its like a revolving doors of players. Oh and the lack of recruiting someone to play any type foward spot or a center. Thats a good place to start too. Look at our roster and see the lack of talent at the fowards. We have a lot of guys that want to jack up threes and not play defense or rebound. We have a bunch of soft players. We used to be a very good defensive and solid rebounding team. I thought that is what Stansbury taught. I was very wrong.

I can't think of any players that Stans has taught up. It seems that every player has regressed when he gets to Starkville. He needs to get a lesson from Mullen on how to teach and mold talent.

out of what you've got. Most of Stans recruits aren't getting much better under his coaching or non-coaching. more like it.

That year I saw a serious lack of effort and organization on our team. At times it seemed like Jamont ruled the team and that's when I changed my opinion of him. Anybody that thinks we should not fire Rick after this season is an idiot.

Stricklan wants Mullen to tutor the other head coaches on getting the most out of the players you coach. That is one of the complex issues in the contract. It all makes sense now.

strength and conditioning workouts. Some players show up, and some don't, when Akins notifies him about those players...he does nothing. The crazies run the asylum.

Gary Ervin,...remember his awesome performance in the last 2 minutes that cost us the game against Duke in the 2nd rd of the dance couple years back? I have hated MS State basketball players since then..just thugs, ****** performing thugs at that. Get a different coach, different players...
