I hope I am wrong, but I think he will be back. To get rid of him, it will take the fans stop showing up for games, stop calling in on the call in show, stop listening to KSR radio show, and filling the President of the University inbox with emails. I just do not think Mitch will make that move without some extreme pressure on him.
Pearl would have been an amazing hire 2 years ago. But, Mitch missed the boat on that one. Oats would still be my #1 choice.
I don’t know. When Cal was hired I’m pretty sure multiple boosters and former players were making with connections with him while he was at Memphis and Billy G was at Kentucky. Ideally you have a group of people from the program already speaking to coaches who would be willing to take the job. It’s best to get a coach to agree before the season ends, imo.

Yeah, I have thought of that, but I also could see it being a situation where it's like riding a bike in that you never forget, especially for someone who was on top of his game for a period of time.

What the hell do you base that on? Pope’s buyout is 25 million. Mitch has shown over and over he doesn’t fire coaches until they’re bad for 2-3 years. Mitch is the AD.

Hate to say it, but …. What quality Coach that isn’t past his prime would come to Kentucky? Those days are gone, and I hate it. Our glory days are behind us in this new era of NIL, and kids play for dollars not pride from teams of the past. Unfortunately, kids can get dollars and be proud to play for the new blue bloods of college basketball. Is why recruits don’t commit to Kentucky.
Was it true that we offered Hurley like 10 or eleven million a year? If so I’m not sure why yall ask who will come here. Nick Saban would come to Kentucky if they paid him 50 million a year.

you seem to be really overestimating how much money UK can offer. We can pay a lot, but not THAT much more than any other top level school, so there is no real reason for a proven winner coach to come here

Most coaches we offer ten million to won’t be coming off back to back championships. That’s why Mitch offered him that. Nobody in the world is that dumb to leave somewhere when you just won two championships. I don’t think we can go steal the best coach in America like a spoiled entitled fan but we can go get a damn good coach. Crazy to think we can’t.
I don’t think they will assault him because if he keeps losing he will be gone. But yes I do think there are crazy fans that would go to the extreme and not think twice.
Again, what do you base that on? It’s literally never happened. You think UK fans are crazier than Tennessee football or Alabama football? They’ve both had stretches where they’ve been terrible in my lifetime, not once has a coach ever been seriously physically threatened or anything like that.
