You would think that Auburn or TN would have a larger profit based on the number of fans and merchandise sales alone, but the more you have the more you spend I guess.<div>

Nine of the twelve SEC schools were in the top 50 in REVENUE. Mississippi State was one of the three that areNOT in the top 50.

We are in the bottom quartile of the SEC in terms of REVENUE.

We make a lot less than other SEC schools, and we have to spend a lot less.

I wish Obama would do the same.

It's not like MSU Athletics has shareholders to pay. We're already way behind in spending. Holding on to our money just puts us further behind.

Im sure it's Strick prepping for some major expenses in the next 3 years, but profit is not a good way to judge athletic departments.

potential donors in a room with Frank Martin. He says nothing. Just stares at them. Nobody has left that room without giving atleast $50,000.

making money as a program is a good thing when expenditures are steadily increasing

That was my first thought. We are stockpiling cash for future planned expenses. I'm sure we've gotten very good at being lean, but that extra 6M certainly is already earmarked for something important.

But as you said, profit isn't a great way to compare ADs.

We need to keep a goodbusiness sense and prepare for the future if we don't have a great year next year revenue wise. We are trying to growhealthily.

I know it is profit and not revenue, but what all does it include? Shouldn't we be a little down because of the construction costs of the Mize Pavillion? Will we be down majorly in the coming years because of the stadium expansion, or will that not matter because it will largely be paid for by bonds? Why is Alabama so far ahead of other SEC powerhouses?

I am clueless when it comes to finance. I am nearly thirty and can't even do my own taxes.

Is it just me, or are 11 of 12 SEC teams on that list. Someone is operating in the red.

from an IRS standpoint, I think anything over the break even point is pretty meaningless. It's just money that hasn't been spent yet.

We will stay there to. Just take this year's spring game as example. Our fans should be willing to fork over money to see our team play anytime even if it is a scrimmage. Not only do we have to pay, but we get a concert to go along with it (like the band or not).

Our fans just ***** or protest.
