I mean I get a little frustrated with the way the media handles him. In fact yesterday I was pretty pissed that there was some good golf going on but we didn't get to see any of it because we were too busy watching Woods and Veejay stink up the course. But Tiger is a great golfer. He may end up being the best to ever play the game. Why hate on him? Today was fun to watch though. Yang was put in a situation that would be tough on anyone and he handled it beautifully playing some of the best golf of his career. Anyone who would take that modified 3 shot on 18 with a one stroke lead has some major balls.

The hate for Tiger comes for one of three reasons:
1) The individual can't stand him for the fact that he's got African American blood in him and thus he's been a big reason for the mainstreaming of golf interest to all races, not just old white guys.
2) They don't like his competitiveness and the fact that he gets visibly pissed when he hits a poor shot. In this case, they are likely traditionalists that hate things like end zone dances and the slam dunk.
3) They hate the media following and the fact that he's the focal point of all golf coverage. If that's the case, get over it. Golfers make a lot more money these days because of Tiger Woods. He's earned the attention.
Most people I know that hate him hate him for a combination of all 3 reasons, though they will only openly admit to reasons 2 and 3.
As a side note, I love the guy. I like the fact that he's so driven and focused and the fact that he hates to lose so much. It's refreshing to see an athlete at the top of his game that's never satisfied. I also love the fact that he shows some emotion on the course. I enjoy watching him, and I'm going to enjoy watching him break a load of PGA records, including the majors record. If, as a fan, you can't enjoy watching the greatest play at the highest level and break records, then why do you watch?

Please, back up this dubmass comment. Show me how he's "lost his edge." Because he finally lost a major after leading at the 54 hole mark? Because he couldn't make the short/medium putts? As we all know, golfers take steroids to help with their putting, right?

Folks like to see #1 take it on the chin. I don't know that it is always hate that is is root of this wish as much as just wanting to see the top guy lose for a change. Tiger lost most of the majors this year because of his putter (except for the British Open when he couldn't hit off the tee to save his life). You could see his was having putting trouble starting on Saturday when he had a chance to leave the field. He has still won more tournaments this year than anyone and I think he is still off his top game because he had to take most of last year off. Don't tell the haters that he will probably be back with a vengeance next year because they are much too happy with his "demise" this year. I think if you asked any golfer they would trade places with him this season in a heart beat.

he won 5 tourneys this year coming off major surgery...hes won almost double the amount of majors that yang has even played in.

I don't pull against Tiger, I just wish the Tour would have some guys step up and contend with him on the weekends. Is it Tigers fault that he's so dominant, no, not at all. The effect is still the same, no reason to watch on Sundays.

Reality is that 95% of PGA golfers don't act this way and I'm not saying Tiger doesn't understand golf. I'm just a traditionalist when it comes to how you approach the game and this is the one area in which I believe he is less than stellar.DerHntr said:

He didn't win a major this year because his putting was poor (if you watched saturday and sunday you would have seen exhibits A and B). I wonder how much taking steroids improves someone's putting. Fact of the matter is he was just as dominant as ever this year, but he just didn't win a major. By anyone else's standards, he had a career year. If you don't understand this, then no one will ever expect you to understand why it's such a big deal to win as many majors as he already has.
