You are proving my point. In what world did he embarrass the program? When he got here late, woth literally ZERO on the roster, most rational people were saying a .500 record in the toughest conference in America would be a good first year. Instead, he put together a team that went to the S16, despite losing key players to injuries. If he has luck with health last season, he may well have made the FF. Now, you are pulling your pacifier out and moving the goal posts. If you think last season was an embarrassment, then you are basketball braindead.
He is having a bad year this season at 14-7. If his roster weren't racked with injuries, they would be 17-4 or 16-5. So for you, injuries are the coaches fault, fire him.

And you wonder why top coaches keep telling UK to stick their money where the sun doesn't shine when we come calling....
Stop. He absolutely has embarrassed the program repeatedly.

Pope is a dork and always has been. Whenever him and Jared Prickett were in the game at the same time in 1995, I used to call them Dumb and Dumber.

serious question for you and people who think like this. Why do you think it will be better next year when we have 0 recruits. All signs are pointing to us being even worse as we lose players and game nothing.

I am not on the Pope wagon at all but I don’t know what you guys give a **** about HS recruits. Not only do I think Popes coaching style and personality is HORRIBLE for getting the best out of freshmen, but plenty of programs (Florida, Houston, Purdue) have found success with transfers and retaining players, so I think the people worrying about HS recruits are misguided imo

florida, houston and purdue have amazing coaches

you can get away with mediocre players if your a great coach

maybe pope needs a talent boost to be good

Houston has 3 top 25 freshman including a top 10 player. they may have gotten a single transfer

This specific year, which is an outlier for them and not what they had last year on their team that made the championship game, and not how Sampson has grown the program over the last 10 years.

Hopefully after this year we don’t have any more seasons with so many injuries. Stay healthy and I think or hope we don’t have any more bad starts like this season. If every bad thread got kicked up from the beginning of the season it would be rough on here lol

I’m really happy they were able to turn this season around. It’s obvious the team and coaches worked hard to resolve a lot of their issues.
