This thread was never started to "bait". The Woodrow24 "account" shows up like magic to get rid of whoever he doesnt want here. I've seen it with other posters and POOF they get banned or move on. Hurley was 46 games over .500 before UConn.
However, he was 13-17 his first season as a HC at Wagner and 8-21 his first season at URI. So without each of those seasons he was 130-67 which is a respectable 66%
He went from 13-17 to 25-6 at Wagner before moving to URI
His first 4 years at URI weren't great, but he did take them to the NCAAT his last two seasons there. They even obtained top 25 rankings at some point of each of those seasons. Very big deal for a program like URI
UConn wasnt banned from the NCAAT his first two seasons, but they had been on probation. Took them to the NCAAT his 3rd year there.

I have no idea what’s wrong with arguing on a message board, as long as it remains focused on the game and stays within bounds. Never once thought of attacking anyone’s personal life over basketball but debate is a choice pleasure. This should be the place for that.

Healthy debate/aruging is, well healthy. It's the constant bickering from the same folks over and over that is too much. I think it has gotten personal where certain people do not like each other and they look for any opportunity to bicker.

It is interesting to note that it appears there is no evidence of any high-profile coaches publicly stating that Mark Pope is not the right fit for the Kentucky job. Such discussions seem to be limited to media commentary and fan speculation. I'm not sure what this might suggest.

I have always been a sedan guy. Will never own a truck or a big SUV even so again you miss the mark. I have spent a lot it time discussing basketball on these forums for a program I “supposedly” hate. Another miss on your part, congrats your 0-fer. It’s actually the opposite. I miss the days of being a top dog in the sport, a team that other schools actually dreaded playing or at least looked forward to the challenge of playing. Now we are losing to schools like St. Peter’s, Oakland, and Evansville (under cal), and it has not been uncommon under pope to not even be competitive against top 25 competition. That’s not KY basketball. I want more for the program than you do so perhaps you’re the one who hates the program and isn’t a true fan.

If Pope had NOT signed JQ when he had the opportunity and JQ had not reinjured himself and had played healthy the rest of the season, you and the rest of the folks killing Pope for bringing JQ in would be killing him for not bringing him in. The only way he can make some people happy is to find a crystal ball

I can’t judge Pope till he gets some more time in as our coach. I worry about the recruiting but he still has time to turn that around. I don’t expect him to recruit at the same level as Cal, I’m just surprised at how many of his main targets that he has struck out on. That can’t continue to happen if he wants to be successful here.
If Pope can get the team prepared at tipoff going forward, that would be a good sign. Recruiting also needs to improve.
Injuries aside, going to end with 12 plus losses again and no sec title and sec tourney title and no final four or title. I agree with everyone that year 3 has to show improvement winning something that matters.

Would think we had enough money to throw at recruits even if they didn’t connect with Pope. Goes to show money isn’t everything. But it is 85% lol.
I haven’t started to panic about it yet, because we should have more players returning next year than we usually have.
I never said don’t take a chance on him, I’m just saying it’s not the same situation as Peterson who didn’t have a prior injury . You can’t really use JQs injury as an excuse for not playing well when you knew he was coming off an acl injury to begin with, there was always a chance he may not play much.
I think this is a good point. Bottom line fans just want to win and can lash out when losing. If we beat Mizz and UNC, this thing would look a lot different and there would be less lashing out. Things are trending up. Hope it continues.
