Lowe, Jasper and BG leaving atleast shows me Pope isn't the dumbest smart person ever. I still have zero faith he is the man for the job but atleast he's not running it back with crap. I know he knows his job is on the line so hopefully he can put together a team that won't get embarrassed. And no we aren't getting Stokes. Never was.

Agreed on who is leaving. I have no idea about Stokes, though I assume it’s not here. And count me in the group that thinks some retention is REALLY important. Especially for a system guy like Pope.

Doesn’t bother me one bit. We overpaid for probably every player on our roster last year. Nobody outside of Moreno really lived up to expectations. Pay them what they’re worth or let them walk and replace them.

I have zero confidence pope is going to field a team that can finish top 5 in the SEC much less win a championship. His first team he had here will be his best by a wide margin. I Next year will be a disaster and I think the next few weeks will prove that to be true as the roster comes together.

I’ve not seen really any improvement of our bigs the 2 years under Pope. I don’t even seen basic skills out of the bigs which has to be coaching. I guess I will know if that’s true watching BG next year. Hope I’m wrong

My educated guess is if in fact we are offering Stokes six million that you could get three players of the Aberdeen, OO quality for that amount which could prove to be more valuable . I really hope we keep MM, Kam Williams, Chandler, Mo, Hawthorne, and Add two big men and a Jr or senior point guard and the rotation only goes 8 deep. Williams coming in needs to understudy a c,lass A point guard for two years and spell him for only four or five minutes a game this year. That’s my two cents .

There are maybe 12-15 top end players in the portal. Three is the number we need plus Chandler, Moreno and Kam. That's 6 deep of good players. Play the starters 33-34 minutes each and find a couple more kids that can play a few minutes a game

Mostly agree but we NEED other good big aside from MM. I still like him but I lost some confidence in him as the season wrapped up. He needs help

Yeah, of the three studs, we need a point, a wing and a PF. I think we can find a big man that can play defense and block shots. Doesn't have to be a star

But will pope change his substitution patterns? I really don’t think he wants to play anyone 33-34 minutes

You dont think Williams improved? He wasn't on the draft board until after coming here. Same with Brea and his improvement.

I definitely don’t think Pope is the guy for us but just about everyone on his first team improved their game here.

Maybe Pope is better suited to coach older guys versus freshman . Just a thought.

Yeah Lowe and BG werent it. Lowe was never going to work and only here because we whiffed on our top pg target’s last off season. Garrison regressed. Was never the defensive presence he was advertised to be.

Jasper had an awful season but I would have been okay with keeping him if he wanted to be here and accepted a role until he proved he could take on more. Just seems like he had too many people in his ear telling him he should be a star from day 1.

Now we have to upgrade at each of their spots.

Watch & see how he builds next years team & I promise you they will be able to score points, the part idk about is how well they'll play defense. For whatever reasons, Pope just wants to out score teams & doesn't stress hard nosed defense, he needs to get a coach that can coach defense, Mark Fox aint it.
