When did this happen?
Last week. There's a whole thread on it.

Sorry, somehow missed the thread.

What's puzzeling to me is that the losing coach didn't seem to notice there was an issue and neither did the winning coach. The winning coach didn't hear anything of this until later that night.

How is that possible????

You tell me...you seem to fit the description of either head coach...

He's making fun of you because it took you almost a week to hear about one of the biggest stories in the state, but you asked how the coaches misses the 5th down.
Ah

Anyone have an explanation from the coaches or refs on what the mixup was? Everyone was on the same page...albeit the wrong page.

Hypothetical posed by a retired HOF ihsa official...

Porta is down two, lines up for a gw FG at the 2. Kick is good as time expires but the scoreboard only puts 1 pt on the board. Officials don't know the score and award the other team the win based on what the scoreboard says. Does the ihsa step in?

How the coach didn’t do anything is beyond me, did he not know?
No one knew. It wasn't until later that night or the next day that it was discovered. Easier than you might think to lose track of what down it is in an end of game situation in a close game.

Pretty nuts no coach or players knew.
But old news I guess.

I'm the only retired HOF IHSA official.

I also wrote down every score on my game card.
