Need a Starting PG and center.

I think we need a 3 and D, 2 that can contribute and actually wants to play defense. A guy that can give the hawks 15 minutes a game…

I'm okay with Combs as a point but completely agree about a center and another starting guard who is a sniper.

I feel like Sage or Howard can fit that role especially with added development.
Howard is not that guy.

His body of work this year is not great.

He defends alright and is a super athlete. But there’s gotta be a better bench option than Howard.

others have pointed out in other threads, Trey Thompson, Coon, and maybe Ethan Harris will play before him which I sure hope so.

I have a different view on tampering, and it comes from the perspective of having had a daughter play college sports. Mind you, in my case, it was very low level college softball. But still, suppose my daughter had wanted to change schools … you can be damn sure that I would have wanted the opportunity to talk to other schools, and be certain that she had a landing spot, before she announced to her original school that she was leaving.

Imagine being forced to give notice to your current employer before you were allowed to apply or interview for another job. That would be insane. But that’s what the current NCAA tampering “rules” amount to.

I’ll be the first to admit that NIL and the transfer portal have had a negative impact on college sports. And I get why there are rules against “tampering.” But it’s not something I’m going to get worked up about. If it was my kid, I would absolutely want to have the opportunity to talk to other schools before declaring intentions to depart.
My daughter’s college closed before her senior year so we had to hope she was going to get recruited after that mess. Again, lower level, but she got more offers at that point than she did when she was a senior in high school. You never know what can happen. Good post.

DeVries would have been his coach at Drake.

Garland, who hails from Arkansas, spent his freshman season at Drake, sophomore year at Longwood and junior year at San Jose State..

This will make it 4 schools in 4 years. I am sure he is on track for a degree. ;)

These players are annoying…the ones who transfer each year. No commitment to anyone but themselves.

As long as your daughter isn’t shutting it down halfway through the season with a fake injury, like some players do in order to not risk their hidden agreement with another school in place for more money. There was a certain turncoat at Iowa last year that appeared to do that.

Howards D is better than just “alright”

I know Combs is no Stirtz but I believe he will be able to step it up next year as the primary point guard
He’s shown glimpses of really good skills. His shooting is never going to be great, though, but I really like his driving and the floater he shoots. And he is strong. Sometimes he gets shots off and gets rebounds that I don’t expect. He would need a lot of shooting around him. My biggest concern with him is ball handling, as it’s not always clean-and he would have the ball in his hands a lot.

I find it hard to believe VCU can outbid Iowa especially after coming off an elite eight
This is how

If numbers for Stirtz and Hausen were accurate, they were getting a little over $2M combined. I would think our pot between Pay-for-Play $ and NIL $ will be larger with our success. That should be a good pot for a PG and Center, although Michigan paid around $6M for their three bigs (Mara, Johnson and Lindenbourg). We probably will need at least $3M for a game changing Point Guard and Big Man.

You have to lock in Koch and Sage for sure, we need their perimeter shooting. Combs, Howard and Manyawu are the next three important pieces. Alvaro should be a PF, try to keep him if the price doesn't get higher. You add Thompson and Harris, possibly Coon. I'm not sure Banks will get another year.

Buffaloes in trouble next season..their pg and center are in the portal already
I would really like Iowa to land Johnson (pg) and Dak (pf) from the Buffaloes. They run some pick and roll action like Ben runs and those two would be familiar with each other.

Colorado is the worst head coaching job in the Big 12.

And, as you can see, they don't have a lot of money for MBB.

WHAT MAKES THE COLORADO HEAD COACHING JOB LAST IN THE BIG 12?

“There’s no recruiting base, they have bottom-tier resources, now you have Prime soaking up all the money and I’m just not sure they really care. Tad [Boyle] is a really good coach to do what he’s done there.”

Never thought we would see the day...sad in many ways. Just think OSU and Tressel got in hot water water over free ink and a jersey or two. Now we have kids reeling in millions who rarely play or just xfer during season...
Not just hot water lost his job and then a bowl ban which was a 12-0 Ohio State season. Pretty crazy. Even at time felt like too much

Owen Freeman got at least $1.8M at Creighton

Iowa paid Alvaro over $1M

I don't know how this is sustainable.
