Moreno has some flaws but still has a lot of upside. Just needs more strength. I think putting a stretch 4 (not Jelavic) alongside him would make him better too and give him more room to operate. Moreno and Mo together are the definition of paint-cloggers.

I think we need to spend big on a stretch 4 (in the Andrew Carr mold) then get a junkyard dog backup 4 for a fraction of what Mo makes. Not ripping on Mo but you should be able to find dozens of guys in the portal that can give you what he does. He's a generous 6-7, can't finish over length and can't dribble or shoot.

No. We lost 14
Games this season after the last six years of craping the bed. Got blown out in front of the world in the only game that mattered all year. I believe fans had a right to call it out this season. Besides the obvious trolling bitchhhs that come here occasionally, the fans that are here love Kentucky Basketball more that almost anything else in the world. It’s not up to par the last few years and this is a Kentucky message board that sole purpose is to discuss Kentucky basketball. We need some great players and coaches here, if not, someone isn’t doing their job. It’s not like we didn’t just pay 22 million dollars for some players who only came here for the money and a coach who clapped and gave them a Pat on the back for not caring. Somethings not right. Been a fan since the day I was born, 51 years watching us being a great program, what I’ve saw the last five or six years isn’t on par. Appreciate your perspective and understand why you would say it, but true Kentucky fans just want the best for Kentucky basketball and we spend a fortune to have that. Thanks and I hope I wasn’t too harsh about it.
He's right though.
The problem is about 8 out of 10 of our fans have no idea why we were bad , and no idea what it takes to be good. Thats a fact . I had guys on here telling me Chandler was gonna be player of year in sec next year!! What!!! If a guy doesn't shoot 40% from 3, a huge portion of our fans think they aren't good.
We have to get as many ball handling play makers that we can add. If they can shoot, great, but you can't win if you cant drive the ball to the basket

We don’t need pgs we need a balanced team. Im afraid when pope knows we have a deficit at a spot he responds to heavily and over looks other areas. We need an entire team. Idk about prioritizing anyone off that roster I feel like we can upgrade it every position.

We need an offensive minded center who can back his man down and consistently knock down his 5 footer and who can shoot free throws. Because your shooters are guaranteed to have off nights. If he can shoot an occasional 3 that would be a bonus.

We definitely should prioritize offense, that seems to be what is winning these games. Houston had an elite defense, but they're at home, because they couldn't score the ball against Illinois, who really doesn't have a good defense.
But, if you want to win it all, you need to be top 10-15 in both.
It starts with getting a dynamic pg that can defend and you want that guy to have a refuse-to-lose mentality.

I would love to have Chandler back. He needs to be a sixth man offensive spark plug. He is not a ball handler. With his athleticism he can be a monster running in the open floor. He needs to be a cutter, spot up shooter and someone that comes off screens to shoot or get down hill and yack on someone. Do not try to make him a playmaker. He needs to be instant offense off the bench.

Every team left are juggernauts at defense. Illinois was bad at the first of the season, they aren't right now

They jumped up to 20th after last nights game, before that, they were 36th and before the tournament, they were in the 40's.
Our 2014 team hit another gear in the tournament too.
When I look at Illinois players, most are european guys that played in defense optional leagues, they are an offensive minded team that came together defensively in the tournament.
But yeah, Pope has enough money to go and get guys that are elite on both ends of the floor, so he needs to get the best available guys and stop settling for guys that can only do 1 thing well.

Are you a scout? Tell us about this

I’ve evaluated talent. He’s a High volume shooter, but can score it and shoots it well, knack on him he’s poor defensively that could be due to his small size and weight it allows him to get knocked off the ball. I’m just referring to your not paying a brinks load of money to someone who can’t even guard in the Big 12. He needs to add muscle so he can be more physical. There should be better PG enter the portal

Who is? So u wouldn't take the FOTY in the big 12 whose Dad trains NBA players?
Didn’t say I wouldn’t take him I’m just saying you’re not over paying for someone who can’t guard. You are not paying the big money to someone that can’t even guard, you pay for the one who can defend then score be nice to have both. Thats going to cost you 3 million easily for top notch i would consider elite

How is their quickness?
Speed, quickness and shooting can overcome lack of size at the pg spot

Back a Brinks truck up and give it to Isaiah Johnson. The PG we need. Should be #1 priority!

I haven't watched Johnson play, but he must have pretty good quickness b/c he shoots (and makes) quite a few FTs...even against some of the good competition

Against:
Ariz: 10/11
Texas Tech: 13/13
Iowa St: 8/9

He is definitely a scorer (averaged 17.6 ppg over his last 10 games), but he isn't afraid to pass, either. Over his last 10 games, he only had less than 4 assists twice, and he had a max of 3 TOs in 3 of those 10 games. Plus, he averaged 3 rebs/game, which isn't bad considering his size at 6'1 170

I'm already tired of 1 person telling us that they're an expert and the rest of us are stupid for having a discussion.

Ignore Button works well.

Actually that post got me thinking, Somto is basically just like Tugler at Houston. Probably even better.

I’d be all for Somto starting here IF we had the right pieces around him.
No doubt, he could be a multi year guy who leads to a lot of great years in a row. If he continues to improve like Tugler did and stays at one spot.
