He

is a scorer like I stated but he CANT defend

That's fair... as I said, I have watched him play exactly ZERO minutes. I was mostly responding to the question about his quickness. When I saw how many FTs he had shot against quality opponents, that tells me he must be pretty quick to get to the line that much.

I added your post b/c IF he is that quick, you would think he COULD be a good defender even if he hasn't been. Now, considering Pope's teams have not been great defensively by any stretch, do I think he WOULD become a great defender under Pope? Let's just say I have my doubts, but you would think his quickness should enable him to do so.

I'd rather get a guy that can score/create than be a shut-down defender. The likelihood of finding a PG in the portal without a weakness is remote. Those guys are in the NBA.
Alabama, UConn, Duke and others are able to find players that can defend and create offense so why can’t UK? They just need a coach or coaches preferably that can evaluate players

Needs to add weight bad he does get pushed around being 160 believe adjusting to game speed also but can get there

Where did I mention stats? I just think he's a freak athlete at 7 feet tall and is interesting.

Good lord man!
If you remember we had the 3 in the tubby days who were 7 foot that couldn’t do anything and this guy hasn’t played any real competition. Hes big but very slow footed. Be nice to have an all around 6’10-6’11 freak another AD if you will or close to it.

You have no idea what you’re talking about calling him slow footed. I’m going to stop replying to nonsense now.

Alabama doesn't defend well. And Hurley has said that teaching great offense to defensive-only players is an "impossible task" and focuses on high-level scorers who can be taught to play tough defense.

I do agree Pope and staff need to evaluate players better.

Hawthorne confidence is fading. What an odd decision it was to RS him. It’s like odd decision, after odd comment, and it just keeps repeating itself.

You don’t even know who we were talking about lmao. Please just stfu. My post was about Bangot Dak
Well you should’ve stayed who it was several people were asking me about players and Bonte is slow footed but I agree with you Dak isn’t slow footed by no means and is freakishly athletic and looks bigger that his weight. I’m sure I posted to the wrong poster and that’s my bad.

If you're a serious basketball program you HAVE to make an attempt.

He had a rough freshman year, he does have talent but he’s kinda in the JJ situation but he got even more minutes. Who knows how he pans out. I said in the other thread he may be worth a flyer at the right price. Talented for sure, but how fast will he improve? We kinda need guaranteed production.

Tennessee hosting Tyler Lundblade SG from Belmont this weekend. 16 ppg, 42% 3 point shooter. Why do I feel we still end up with leftovers?
You make an excellent point. This board is crazy with comments about “we need to take this guy” .. “we need to take that guy”. It’s a little early but all we’ve got so far was an average PG and we had to hire his dad to get him. I can honestly see the possibility of us striking out on all of the talented players and having a double sh*t roster next year. Pope is 100% honestly that bad. He’s clueless. UK basketball has taken a hit that may take many years to come back from. This is beyond a joke.

Just watched a video from U of L talking about potential portal targets and guess what? They are the same ones mentioned on our board with the Providence guard being first one mentioned.
