That's my concern with Thomas.

Speed also to consider as Dent is said to be one of the very fastest players in the land with the ball in his hands.

Posted this in another thread but Dedan Thomas' catch and shoot metrics are elite and that's something Pope and his staff really hone in on. So his overall 3-point percentage is a little skewed.

Majority of the shots they are taking are from three. Mid to low 40% for a pg fg isn't bad really.
As we've seen with Butler. You need a strong leader that can shoot when needed. I don't want my pg being the top scoring option

Sure, I can agree with wanting a strong leader, etc. But I can't agree with low 40% FG% being nothing to worry about. That portends an underlying issue, which may be poor shot selection, inability to finish, etc. And while a player taking a high amount of his shots from 3pt. range will tend to pull down overall FG% some, I don't think that's a sufficient excuse. On the other hand, a professional coach/coaching staff actually seeing and analyzing a player can trump statistics. So, if Pope & the guys like a player that's good enough for me to put my concerns aside.

They have separate shooting %s for 2s and 3s. At least Sports Reference the site I use does. It shows the # of 2s taken and made, # of 3s taken and made, # of ft's taken and made. Also have a average taken and made per game for all 3. The site is analytics persons dream. Advance stats galore. Sportsreference.com. I just google players name stats, then find sports reference and go to reading. Stathead is really cool feature they have.

If you are willing to pay an unproven Freshman over a million dollars (as it is rumored we did with Johnson), you definitely spend that on Smith. Smith has proven he can lead a team on a deep run in the tourney.

They can definitely keep him. Hes mostly a hustle and guts player, which is fine, but he wont cut it vs the sec elite. Definitely not at that price.

I don't get it in todays game in order to have those type of WINNING players we might have to spend a little bit of money to get those type of guys. I hate it just like the rest of the older generation but it is what it is now! Dude has been to the Championship game just like Butler and Purdue is still in it this year.
