Nebraska basketball has strong reason to pursue Treyson Anderson in the portal

The 6-foot-9 Anderson averaged 10.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Summit League champions, starting the final 20 games of the season. The forward shot 50% from the field and nearly 36% from beyond the arc. Those numbers will be attractive to all sorts of Major conference programs, but especially to the Huskers, who could be losing Pryce Sandfort to the NBA this offseason.

#44, definitely looks like a guy that will have no shortage of suitors. Watch for a few minutes, he goes OFF from 3.

Hopefully the success of the program will open more doors. The thing that sticks out to me is our need for a "true" point guard and like most teams an experienced power forward who can get position/rebounds and score inside. I'm not sure what the NIL budget is but I would hope that they receive a few more $$ so we can attract this kid and others in order to keep this thing going in the right direction. Our bench has some bodies but .......The kid from Las Vegas is listed at 6'7" and 185#, he could do well to put on 20+ pounds of muscle, not sure if he's another swing player or taller guard, the boy from Iceland needs a lot of work in the weight room in order to play inside in the BIG and a ton of Reps in the gym just to learn how to play the game at this level.

I don't think we're losing Pryce, but this guy does not in any way seem like he would fill the same role. Not saying we don't want/need what he brings.
I think this kid would be more of a replacement for Garcia’s role than Pryce’s. Stretch 4 that can shoot 3s and rebound. Pryce would be averaging 30/game at one of the Dakota schools.

It seems like NDSU has multiple players every year that transfer to major programs. You would think they would dominate the Summit League every year. They have three good looking prospects already in the portal right now.

Disagree on Curtis. He didn't look out of place in the action he received, including at Michigan. If he stays I think he will be a problem for Big 10 teams. Compare his measureables to Mara at Michigan.....

@Nuts McClanahan thinks this kid should be punished to the tune of losing a year of eligibility (25% of his college playing years) for the crime of bettering himself after not getting D1 attention at Lincoln Pius X
Incorrect again. If the rules stay as they are, I think this kid should go wherever he likes. It's a free for all at this point.

If (big IF) Magoon Gwath from SDSU enters the portal we need to sign him. We need a big in the middle to rebound and block shots. He can also shoot 3's like Mast.

This is you, right? Just today?

There are FCS/mid major schools paying NIL now. Making a guy sit out a year would make a kid especially a basketball player think twice about transferring up. It could help. But as for the liberals who say a guy should be able to bounce around to a new school every year and make whatever he can, I would ask the dumb *** liberal if they have ever watched pro sports.

Just wanting to clarify where, according to you, I’m wrong?

Because this post seems pretty straightforward.

One thing that will be difficult to replace next year is Lawrence's perimeter defense. While I don't think Lawrence is an elite defender, he's better at it than anyone on the returning roster.

Here's an under-the-radar guy who probably won't attract much NIL money. Not much of a shooter, although he shot 50% overall and 37% from the arc. But, Kossares is a very solid defender who fell into Grumpy Old Tad Boyle's doghouse around midseason and never made it out. He'll almost certainly be in the portal:

Felix Kossares

Would love to get his teammate, freshman PG Isiah Johnson. But if Johnson goes into the portal, he will attract a lot of high bids.

Can’t think of a time when Husker Fandom was talking about looking forward to BB this early in the year or anytime in the year.

Dak is wildly inconsistent and he’s not strong enough to defend the post. But that said, he’s incredibly athletic and he can be a pretty good rim protector as a secondary defender. Worth taking, if the price is right.

Not sure Dak really fits in with Fred's offense, but it would be hard to turn down an athletic 7-footer from Lincoln. He can play a role, but he's a terrible shooter who really only scores on dunks. Fred would need to find a true point guard because you can't run the offense through Dak in the high post like you could with Mast and Walker.

Would be great if Dak brought Isiah Johnson with him as a package deal:

Isiah Johnson in the portal

Johnson leaving is a tough blow for Tad Boyle, but the Denver media will just throw Johnson under the bus and claim that he's a malcontent. Teflon Tad can do no wrong in their eyes.

Fred meets true point guard regardless of who else he is looking at for other positions.

Yeah I am surprised that Tad Boyle still has a job. Only 2 tournament appearances in the last 10 years.

Johnson will go to a blue blood program. He will be one of the best players in the portal this year.

Tad is a master at kissing the Denver media's collective butt and convincing them that nothing that goes badly with the CU program is ever his fault. But when they occasionally have a decent season, it ALL his doing!

I suspect you are right about Johnson, but I hope Fred makes a run at him nevertheless. Really talented player.

You don't go from being a good shooter in HS to being a bad shooter in college.

You were watching him play against small *** kids in Lincoln. The tallest guy that every guarded him in HS was probably 6'6.

He seems like he is super well respected. I had no idea he has been that bad over the last 10 years. You are probably right, he has created a situation where the media likes him.

For a 7-footer, Dak is not really an awful shooter, but he really doesn't have much of an inside game. So typically his production is limited to a couple of open 3-pointers and some alley-oop dunks.

Would still be worth taking, though. It's not like the Huskers are overflowing with front court players.

Yes, I think you take him if you have an open spot and he wants to come here and is willing to be a role player. But you can't really have him and Berke on the floor at the same time, as neither is an outside shooting threat. They would basically have to split minutes.
