It's understandable to want to wrap it up so guys can be on campus for the start of the spring semester but this is all broken. Teams can't field bowl teams and many of the ones that can have major contributors sitting out or transferring. How long until the sponsors just pull out too?

What if the season started a week sooner and 1 of the 2 bye weeks get cancelled? The season ends 2 weeks earlier. Could bowls be targeted around Thanksgiving to Christmas? Playoffs too? No need to wait until the last 2 weeks of the year for most games.

Transfers start the day after Christmas when bowls are done and can wrap up by Jan 5-6ish.

The way it is now sucks. It's not going back to the way it was. Something radical has to happen.

There will have to be some honest appraisal of "the system" being done. These should be student athletes, but they clearly are not. The ones at UGa and the rest of the final four playoff teams are going to be behind the eightball on finding a new "school".

Just disrupt the whole thing and make it a separate system, if that's what is believed the market demand. Remove any liability or responsibility of schooling and learning.

It is already hot as **** for the first half of the season. Do you really want to have every home game be over 80 degrees at night or 90 during the day?

Many times, reality has to hit people in the face before it becomes obvious. And it's obvious that the bowls really have no prize anymore. Maybe they will once revenue sharing starts. I have to think that 80% of the players still like a paid for vacation. Some of the NFL-caliber types may still opt out, but at least we won't have mass entrants into the portal.

It would be nice to still have some relevant games on, leading up to the playoff. But they are largely just exhibitions - prep for next year. And right now, most teams are better off hitting the portal during that time, rather than practicing for a bowl game.
