Then their is who they have and will play. Lewis, Chicago St., UIC, St. Francis, Ill. St.. Bradley, Ind. St., Valpo, North Texas, Missouri St. and Evansville. One Big Ten opponent, Wisky. = a 14 point loss and a loss to Richmond as well. Yes they beat Drake yesterday but they played without their best player. While I still support Collins, but if a change is made I would think they would go after more successful and higher profile coach. After all he did get fired by Ill.St., right?

I’m not saying Moser is or isn’t the answer here (or if he’s even interested), but most coaches have to work their way up from mid-majors. Here in the B1G we have McCaffery who came from Siena, Holtmann who came from Gardner-Webb and Butler, Underwood who was at SFA before a quick stop at OK St, Turgeon who was at Wichita St, etc.

We’re not a good enough job to be in the market for guys who’ve already done well at another power-conference program (unless maybe we’re their pre-retirement last stop) so we’re left with assistants at major programs (like the guy we have now) or guys who have succeeded as a head coach in lower-tier leagues.

And the MVC isn’t a terrible league, KenPom has them 11th of 32 conferences so they’re one of the top mid-major leagues and have been for years.

Loyola got to the Final 4 thanks to 2 buzzer beaters and another 1-point win, but they got there. So that counts for something. And they play great defense, which is an identity I’d like to see our team have in the future.

So Jim Christian is out at BC.

They gave him 7 years. They have a much richer history than ours (not hard anyway), but there are similarities. The struggle is long.

It’s a much more appealing job than NU. Yet, ESPN says Moser is a pipe dream for BC. Keep dreaming about Moser at NU. Or keep believing we are too good for considering a MVC coach. Choice is yours.

You’re really grasping at straws in your defense of CC
Same people on here who cite NU’s tepid basketball history as a reason to have patience with Collins also think NU is too good of a job for Moser. Can’t have it both ways

Jim Christian had one winning season (17-12) at BC and NO NCAA or NIT tournament appearances at a school with a modestly better history than NU.

I'd say making the tourney 7 out of 9 years in the 2000s is a bit more than "modestly better history than NU". Also, Christian did make the NIT in 2018, his 4th year, which bought him the next 3 years before getting fired. BC fired the previous coach after 4 seasons of no tourney, so there is no comparing BC's tolerance for coaches to ours.

Didn’t they fire the guy who took them to those 7 in 9 appearances?

I generally agree with your direction, but I wonder if the rapidly diving status of the Pac-12 would put their coaches in play.

However, the contract buyout is another story.

Just a cheap, quick thought.

Huh. Moser can get a job at school with a much better basketball tradition than NU has.

So believe it or not this is the top topic on Ramblermania, the LU board......but who knows , Porter has had the offers, he turned down St. Johns in the Big East last year....He is a hometown guy, a down to earth guy (like CC) and while his present contract his a big haul for LU. it might be enough for PM......I do not think he is motivated by $ but man he loves a challenge, paces like a tiger in a cage at game time......Everyone at LU is like we get it, he desrves it. but the biggest thing effecting PM is the inability to schedule top non-con games as no one will schedule us. THe UW game and the RIchmond game this year were due totally to COVID cancellations...and by the way we were tied with UW with 16 to go and then 4 possessions that led to 4 3.s by UW ended it...but we played even the rest of the way....also only had one day to prepare....and it PM has a strength it is defensive game plan.
Anyway I want to see NU and LU do well....both schools have good people at the helm....but the B10 is a much higher hill to climb.....just a little tidbit PM lives in Cubs owners Ricketts old house.

PM is also a very nice fellow if you happen to come in contact with him.
