In yesterday's position sets threads concerning MSU, DS said I could follow up withsimilar threadsconcerning other SEC teams. What with several people including myself thinking MSU has a chance to beat Georgia,1 I thought I'd start with the other Bulldogs. One change from what DS did, I'm combining TE with WR andcounting that asone set. Here goes:

QB: Below - Tremendous upside because everyone else is returning.
RB:Above
OL: Above
TE/WR: Above

DL: Even
LB: Even - What remains to be seen is how well & how quickly will UGA adjust to the 3-4 defense
DB: Below

K: Above
P: Above
Return: Above - 3 KO returns for TDs ain't shabby

_________
1I might have to revisit that prediction but we'll see...

QB --> surely below
WR --> AJ Green = above?

That's all I got. I assume they have more talent than they showed last year. I just hope they're still trying to figure out their issues before we play them. To me Georgia and LSU are both huge games for us. Both of them should be more talented than MSU, but if they play as far below their talent as they did last year, I would think we could beat both of them.If they get their **** together, and then the rented Mule is good enough to move Auburn's offense early in theseason and Arkansas' d is good enough to keep us from scoring at will (which I think we will have to do to keep up, unless we get several more turnovers than them), this could be another long season. Let Keenum get hot at Houston and we all get the comfort of knowing that Dan will be around for at least a few more years.</p>

They have 10 offensive returnees...

The only new starter is the QB, so opposing defenses will likely do what they can to disrupt the QB while at the same time stopping the running game. Ealey is starting, and King will see a lot of playing time too (he did when Ealey was injured).

Their offensive line is very good-- one of the best in the conference.

Great receivers.

I would not be surprised to see Green's production go down this year but they do better offensively as UGA concentrates on running the ball and in the beginning some safe passing plays or play action passes.

The defense was nothing special last year. They lost someDTs but they're transitioning to the 3-4, so if their DEs can convert to OLB well, then that's good for them...

The defensive backfield was shaky last year-- allowing 25 passing touchdowns.

Special teams are outstanding.

Their punter, kicker, and kick returner have been named to preseason all-America teams (I think: 1st, 2nd, and 4th respectively all by Phil Steele?)

How well they do is going to depend on how well the defense adapts to the 3-4. I think their offense and special teams are going to be very good. Their only concern offensively is making sure that their QB manages the game.
