Just caught a little bit of Head to Head and they mentioned a story they had just received this afternoon about some scheduling changes coming from the SEC office possibly by the end of the week. The story indicated there may be some changes in permanent cross-division opponents at least for 2013, but no hints were given. I did not catch where this info was coming from, but possibly AL.com. Wouldn't that be our luck to lose UK off the schedule next year. Anybody know more about it?

I heard yesterday that we once were told that it was probably going to be Vandy and UK from the East next year.... the new rumor is that it's no longer Vandy... but someone else. I didn't hear anything on switching out UK as a permanent though.

Yep, they wait until we ink the deal with OK ST to tell us we have FL, SC or GA next year instead of Vandy.

Yes, it's on al.com (if anyone's interested, there's an al.com app for iPhone and iPad available from the Apple Store, free. Not sure if there's one for Android phones or not.

It's an article by Jon Solomon, and is only for permanent opponents. He quotes Mark Womack, the SEC Executive Associate Commissioner. Womack wouldn't say which teams would be affected. Says details should be out by the end of the week.

Knowing our luck, since we appear to be on a winning run, they'll change ours to Florida or Tennessee. Or maybe SC. But I guess we'll find out in a couple of days.

the four teams that are being rumored to switch permanents to TAMU/SC and Arky/Mizzou due to Arky and Mizzou's proximity. So it only makes sense for TAMU and SC to be paired together to prevent breaking up other permanents.

Also, is the rumor true that we may be playing SC instead of Vandy in 2013?

SC and A&M are about as far apart as you can be and stay in the SEC. Of course, the ACC does it all the time since they're all up and down the east coast.

Haven't heard the rumor about us playing SC next year so don't know if it's true or not. We'll find out Friday I suppose.

what are the BCS requirements on how many conference games have to be on the schedule to have a conference championship game? I'd entertain the thought of trimming back the SEC schedule to fewer games and (maybe even) scrap the SECCG if the numbers could justify it.

I think the requirements for a conference championship game is simply having twelve teams or more in your conference.

and "divisions" I think... MOdawg, do you happen to remember the days of 10 SEC teams and 6 conference games, and 5 OOC games?...

You nailed it

He would relish finding a way to screw us because he got run off and his ineptness was uncovered.

Ummm....TAMU/SC and Arky/Mizzou are already the permanent opponents.

Looking at the lineup, there's no way they break up UT/Bama or UGA/Auburn. I'd be surprised if they swap out LSU/Florida or Arky/Mizzou, either. That leaves TAMU/UM/MSU to matchup with USC/UK/VU. I could just see LT grinning as he swapped us to Spurrier's boys.

I do not. Just turned 30 this year and didn't really follow much SEC stuff until 2000 when I got to State. Growing up in Missouri, I watched a lot of mizzou basketball and cardinal baseball... I knew nothing about the SEC until I got to State and some will tell you that I still know nothing.

The only change to permanent cross-division permanent opponents will be the USC will now play Texas A&M every year and Arkansas will now play Missouri every year. The rest are set in stone.

Did you even read the article you linked? It says that Florida's permanent opponent will continue to be LSU. We're going to keep Kentucky and Mississippi is going to keep Vandy. Some of you people are just way too paranoid.

Wait... I must've missed something... When did the college schedule move to 14 weeks instead of 13? I don't know how this is my first time hearing about that..

My comment was addressing someone else's post about the matter. Anyway, I don't take my linked article as gospel since it was from the spring and may have been superseded, and they obviously couldn't make Ark/Mizzou work this season.
Throw in that there was an SEC rep on the radio a short time ago stating that there could be some permanent opponent swaps involving us and UM...other than the sacrosanct match-ups above, there's no telling what we'll get.
