Too many pats

After MSU beat Auburn last weekend, Mullen warned his players to not let all the "pats on the back" distract them. He thought it had an effect, citing dropped passes, poor tackling and penalties.

"Those are the mental focus things that you can't lose sight of," he said. "A couple of times tonight, I think we lost sight of those things. I think this will give us a renewed sense of urgency coming back to practice this week and getting ourselves focused."

Wide receiver Chad Bumphis, who had a career night with 180 yards and three touchdowns, also had a drop, as did several receivers. He thought the Bulldogs let all the praise after last week's win hurt them.

"You kind of lose focus. I'm sure you talked to coach Mullen, we'll get it back this week at practice," Bumphis said.

Gotta a feeling this weeks practices are gonna be hell, and purely pagan.

Mullen should have picked up on that in LAST week's practices and nipped it. What about the d? Did they lose focus too?

I just don't think Wilson was ready for that schizophrenic hurry up offense, even though he had 2 weeks of film. If past history is predictable reality, then Chris Wilson gotta an ear full of Dan Mullen's paganisms

You would think after giving up a **** load of yards in the first half that the D would have regained focused in the 2nd half. Ha! Just the same old crap. I hope Mullen runs the entire team asses off this week.

I agree, but we play zone 99% of the time

even on the goal line where people wind up getting lost and wide open. IDK his overall philosophy but we gave up almost 600 yards and gave up 24 points. Most games where 600 yards is given up there are 60 points scored. I dont care if people agree with me or not but Troy is a tough place to win. These are their "big time games". We won, move on.

We did win. I will even mention we are the only BCS team to ever roll into Troy and win. Mizzou and Okie Lite have both been defeated there , we were their superbowl, first SEC team to ever play them there They are notorious for slaying giants. We won. We did what we needed to win

Well, this makes me feel a LITTLE better about the game. I'm tired of this mentality of "I'll wait until the next game to get a great feel of how good of a team we are", but I guess I'll have to wait a few more weeks to see.

In the post game show with Jim Ellis, Coach was very angry with the defense. He in essence said most of them didn't come ready to play a very good offensive team. He said, we are going to have some tough practices this week.

Correct Backer......defense is all about effort......

and we didn't have much last night. It's got to frustrate coaches to no end.

^this^ we didn't want to give up the deep ball so we went 2deep the whole game. Like 34 said somewhere else, it seems like Wilson wants to do this against spread-passing teams. It is mind bottling.
